I had a blast dicing it up with a few Vette's in the Black group today! I was driving my white Maita race car, sadly the Z had to stay home for this one. Great meeting everyone!

I just learned the details about this event yesterday at the track. Honestly I thought the CC was a racing series similar to NASA or SCCA and didn't realize it was more like time trials.

As it was my first time driving the Laguna Seca yesterday, I didn't enter. I'll be back on Sunday and would like to throw my hat in the ring for the final day. I'll be running in the stock category. Based on the times I've seen posted from past years, I'm certainly not going win anything. I managed a 1:51.7 on a clear track and maybe I can shave another second or two on my second day as I get more comfortable with the track. With three previous entries, it looks like I have a legit chance to finish Top-5 in the stock class. That would be a win in my book.

I submitted my completed comp form via the CC Facebook page since I won't have access to a printer before Sunday. If there is someone I should email it to, please let me know.

See you tomorrow,

That is awesome that you are there. I wish I was.

It sounds like we need to be more clear about what is Corvette Challenge and how it is for track day drivers and not wheel-to-wheel racers.

I had a fun couple of days at Laguna Seca. I did fill out the form for CC but may have marked mod instead of SM. I have a 2006 Z06 with KW Coil overs, Nt01 with HRE wheels, fixed heads, AP Racing Radi-Cal (thanks ESSEX!) and ZR1 aero. First time I went to the track I did not like the front brakes on this car. Heated up quickly with race pads and motul 600. First time I did a 1:49 and second time a 1:45. I think the line is fairly easy to learn but getting truly fast here will take some time. I am happy to get back to the track as the last time I was at Laguna was 2 yrs ago.

Any plans on doing a clinic at Laguna Oli Thordarson? I was thinking you were going this past weekend, I could have used some coaching!

I did meet John who also was doing the Corvette Challenge (not sure of his forum name).

Now up to Santa Cruz to do some longboard surfing at Pleasure Point and Steamer Lane!

I am sorry about that Derek. I wanted to go, but I had a lot going on at home this weekend.

I do plan on more Corvette Performance Driving Clinics at the Corvette Challenges.

PS. A reminder/correction of perception: Corvette Challenge is not a wheel-to-wheel racing series. It is a time trial for single car performance driving and it does not require all the stuff involved with formal wheel-to-wheel racing.

I actually surprised myself with the progress I was able to make throughout the second day. Temps remained cool and we had cloud cover for most of Sunday which I am sure helped as well. After managing a 1:51.7 on Friday, I was able to bring it down a bit more on Sunday. Best lap times for me each session were:
Session 1 - 1:49.517
Session 2 - 1:47.352
Session 3 - 1:49.787
Session 4 - 1:47.093

Not bad for a C5Z with some brake pads, DOT4 fluid and Toyo R888 tires.
The car drove like a champ and now I'm making the 1300 mile drive back home for the next two days. More seat time...

Did anyone get a copy of the Laguna Seca weekend's results? I checked the link at the Facebook page but it hasn't been updated since May. Not like I'm going to win a championship having attended only one event, but I was curious where I finished. If anyone can post them or message them to me I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Ryan

Default Standings

Hey Ryan. Speed Ventures is working on the standings. It looks like they are having some technical issues. Results will be posted as soon as they come in.

Nice meeting you out there. Hope to see you again.
