My tix are ordered. This is an extra fundraiser for Prostate cancer research.

The "Cruisin'" happens at OC Fairgrounds in September where a group survivor photo is taken and a motorcoach does screenings for free! http://www.cruisinforacure.com/

Oh, for 'car folks', there's typically 3000+/- cars shown and driven in the large loop.

I'm not looking to hijack this thread, but this IS important.
You mentioned that there will be free prostate screening in a mobile unit, and that is great.

Just a word about screening that most are unaware of, and doctors will hardly ever mention it, if at all.
Stop all sex activity at least four or five days before you are going to be screened.
No one told me that, and I had sex the night before screening.
The results came back, and the psa value was 5.1, which was a major concern for the doctor.

He wanted to do a biopsy to see if I had cancer.
Eight months before, my psa was .03, and I couldn't believe it could go that high in 8 months.
I refused the biopsy, and scheduled a new screening for two months later.
No sex this time for five days before the screening
The results came back, and the psa value was 2.1

As I said, doctors don't tell you about not having sex.
I read it online, and obviously it is a truthful statement.
So, I just wanted to give a heads up to you guys who will be havnig a screening.

Bob.

Thanks, Bob. I didn't know that.

My search of "psa sexual activity" yielded this as first result: http://prostate.net/articles/what-no...re-a-psa-test/

My C4 rides rough. I wonder if that'd affect a PSA test!! And, I rode my R1100RS to the lab!

...and as you grow older it keeps growing. A very small percentage of us ever dies from prostate cancer...we die from everything else.

I'd go but it's so f****** hot it makes for a very uncomfortable day.

I am going through the whole mess now.
Any pressure on the prostate will raise PSA levels (ejaculation, bike riding, long car rides, etc).
Doctors will tell you to fast before blood work but they never tell you about this stuff before a PSA.
Unfortunately, my PSA is still high, but you guys should know the details. Stay away from your wife, girlfriend, bicycle, motorcycle, hard chairs and long rides in your car for a few days before a PSA test.
By the way, if you do get to a biopsy, it is not a big deal. After reading and hearing about it, I was terrified. Don't be! It takes five minutes and feels like somebody is snapping a rubber band on you. Not a big deal at all.

This show is definitely for a good cause. I have been attending this show, prior to my incident. I generally do not post anything about my health, but I am a prostate cancer survivor.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to PM me and I will gladly discuss any questions you may have, as well as the psychological and physical aspects of what I went through. My doctor discovered microscopic hematuria and recently underwent a cystoscopy as well.
