Really bad C7 wreck in Irvine, CA (3 passengers in the C7)... 2 fatalities

Another sad loss of life.....
Not that it mattered; the three poor souls didn't, it seems. RIP.
From other photos found on the net (taken in the predawn darkness illuminated by responder vehicles' lights), there were tire marks on the pavement northbound Jamboree just north of Main indicating a violent spin to the right of about 180 degrees. Ended with a curb strike followed with deep scars on 2 large palm trees framing a pair of fire hydrant standpipes just off the east side of the northbound lanes. One wheel found nearby, and what looked like a convertible top further down the street, along with other smaller debris. This may be where one or more of the occupants left the car. The main wreckage ended up in the northbound lanes further down the street. One of the witnesses is heard to say when he first approached the car soon after he heard the wreck, there was no one inside the car. The seats are seen pretty much undamaged, as is the hood. The area front of the firewall is damaged , but still there. The back of the car behind the seats is mostly gone. The right front wheel and tire while damaged, are still attached to the car. There was no fire.
So, basically, the hood "survived"; like the seats, because nothing hit them hard enough, the rest of the car took some of the force of the impact.
This is all my observations of available stills and videos, I have NO inside information from official sources. Once again, sincere condolences to friends and family of the deceased for their loss.
And most of all, it's up to all of us in the Corvette community to learn from this unfortunate tragedy. Watch out for your friends and family; and if you can, do whatever is necessary to stop this from happening again.

The moral of the tragedy is don't drink and drive. If you want to drive fast, for $150 you can go to a local road course and drive as fast as you want completely legally and in a safe environment.
