Irwindale closing again

Irwindale closing again
This time to become a mall. Seems like it might be for real this time. I live 10 minutes from both Santa Anita mall and the West Covina mall. While both are always crowded, the close proximity is crazy. I haven't been there to the 1/8 but I plan to next week. Sad to see this may happen.

Sad to see it go. We got nowhere else to go now besides Fontana. I'm planning to go next Friday to Irwindale as well

Some of my earliest memories are at Irwindale watching my dad race his '68 GTO. Sorry to hear that it may be on the chopping block.

I first raced my 69 Charger there YEARS ago. Actually raced a black 68 GTO there. He had me beat until he blew his drive shaft! We had such a blast.

Was so bummed when they closed it...used to take my '89 Turbo TA there quite often back then. Had to then go down to Carlsbad, which was a terrible drag strip...but even that place was turned into corporate business park over a decade ago.

Right across Palomar Airport road from the raceway, in the Rancho Carrillo development. A neighbor and I used to head over there every time we heard cars running. Lots of memories...
