Autox in the LA Area?
Hi All,
I was wondering where you all go for autox events in the LA area? I have seen-
-PCA events
-Speedventures
-Speed Limit Racing
Any others? Also are there any active racing clubs worth looking into? Thanks!

Cal Club SCCA Autocross has our last event at El Toro Sept 23/24. There's still room to sign up for the practice day on Saturday (but don't delay, they typically fill up). Sunday is competition day and we take all. Lots of opportunities for ride alongs on Saturday, and Sunday we have dedicated instructor lanes if you want some instruction from an expert.

Great group of people, novice friendly, and there'll be a number of Corvettes out there.
And if you come out, stop by and say "Hi!". I'll be there in the red Grand Sport!

Either way, the writing is on the wall for the venue. We've all been in denial for several years, but the venue is now down to just about 1/2 of one runway. Even the best course designers struggle to make it not feel like a slalom fest with turnarounds at both ends (although we had a pretty creative crossover that created a nice sweeper with a pretty tricky exit recently).
With all the construction over the summer, we've had to drive through 100+ yards of gravel mess to get to the site. Our CAM contingency was really unhappy about that. Although at our last event (this past weekend), they finally created a better entrance for us that avoids the construction gravel trap. It's a nice smooth entry from public roads now (map on the registration site).
Our winter events will be at Auto Club Speedway in their big green lot (not the little internal lot). A great venue with a bit of elevation change in the lot allowing some interesting on/off camber elements, etc.). We also have a Novice School and practice planned in November (Thanksgiving weekend)...a great opportunity to come and learn from some of the best autocross drivers on the west coast (a little shameless plug for our school there! PM for more info!). School day (Saturday) is combined with a practice day (Sunday) so you'll get lots of runs in!
DH: I'm still trying to get up to one of your Camarillo events. I'm in South Orange County, so it's a bit of a trek for me to get up there. Still, I've been watching some of Steve's videos and it looks like a fun event and I see lots of familiar cars!
See ya out there!

Well, internally we all joke that this is the "4th Annual Last El Toro Event". That being said, as of right now, there is nothing else booked at El Toro beyond our September event and last I heard is this is probably the end. Of course, things may change!

A good pal has seen the master plan for 'The Great Park', which has so many new homes the entire area will be more like 'The Great Parking Lot'. the old hazardous waste sites will be parks for oour families to (pay) play in.
Damn, that date is CFAC; already paid to attend with my truck club.

There's a lot in San Pedro that PCA has run at a few times that we're considering, but with a number of trailered in cars, paddock/parking is an issue there. But that being said, we may have to make some other lots work if we want to keep some variety in our venues.
Cal Club typically does its winter and spring events in Fontana at Auto Club Speedway, so being in Fontana for the rest of the year isn't anything new for us.
Our schedule for the rest of the year:
Sept. 23/24 (practice/competition) at El Toro
Oct. 21/22 (practice/competition) at Auto Club Speedway
Nov. 11/12 (practice/competition) at Auto Club Speedway
Nov. 25/26 Novice School and Practice Day at Auto Club Speedway
Dec. 2/3 (practice/competition) at Auto Club Speedway
You can sign up for any of the events here: http://solo2.motorsportreg.com/
Or poke around our web site here: http://solo2.com/
I'll update this thread as soon as there's more info to share!

We're actively seeking new locations to run at. Fontana is our "go to" lot at the moment.

Thanks all. There also seems to be - https://www.ruthlessracingevents.com/
which holds events in Camarillo. It is reasonably priced, capped at 35 cars, I believe, and you are not required to work.
