Default I have a C5 Z16 in Orange County I want to repaint

I don't need show car quality, just a decent paint job. I want something better than Earl Scheib, but I don't want to spend $10k either.

The 2004 Z16 has the clear coat starting to turn white and flake on the most sun affected surfaces. My cars see a lot of track use and I view them consumables. They will never show up at Cars and Coffee. While my two other Corvettes are dedicated races cars, this one is mostly my daily driver.

Who do you recommend to do the paint and why?

Fastest regards,

Oli

some of the maaco shops are better than others. They have varying degrees of quality of paint and work they do. I got quoted about $1600 for their good materials and having the car wet sanded after the fact to smooth out the paint. I've gotten a different car done by them and it was surprisingly good versus what I expected for the $$$

Give Jim Bastoli a call...Bastoli Auto body in Inglewood. He's done work for me before and he's the most meticulous painter I've ever met and his prices are very competitive. Also check out this Yelp reviews for additional feedback.

It's a drive but call Marc at Jack's auto body in Burbank. He really takes a personal interest in cars that are your personal interest.

Any idea on the ballpark cost of a paint job from either of these shops?

Obviously it's a little like asking how long is a piece of string but I would guess $3-7k

I cut a deal with a shop that has done some work on my T1 race car for a full repaint and the Z16 Lemans graphics for $4,750.

It is in San Diego County, not OC as I preferred, but it is a shop I know and trust.

I figure I will drive down with the car and my wife, drop it off, play tourist shopping and walking around with her. Then we can take the train ride home up the coast. She will like that.

Keep us updated on how this turns out. Always like to add a good body shop to the data base.
