This is the one I got on eBay for $23. It has sticky dots on the back of the bracket that adhere to the painted part of the bumper. Very easy to remove and not leave a mark, when you are cleared. No drilling required and this is how Chevrolet designed it. Many people are using a magnet on the inside of the bumper and a the metal of the plate holds long enough to get it signed off. But, if you fet a cop who wants to be a stickler, they might want to see it permanently mounted. If they pull on this, the mount will stay on as it takes a little initiative to get it loose. They just want to see it is not a temporary install using magnets. If they catch a smarty with the temp fix, they can get pretty creative with other fixit tickets to hit you with. One person on another forum had a front plate turn into having to remove his window tint and the officer started measuring the height of his headlights and wanted to check the exhaust for noise pollution. are the sticky dots I found to adhere to the bumper.
