Default Ojai, CA cruise

My wife and I are looking for some new roads to explore this weekend. I was looking on Google Maps and it looks like Ojai Frwy (33) might have some fun canyons. Can anyone comment on this roadway and route? Any good bar/grills to stop at? We would be leaving from the South Bay up the 405-101-33-166-5-405.

Due to the elevation. There might be snow in certain areas .

I lived in ojai for a while. Fun road, i took it all the way to bakersfield once. Not sure if you wanna eat before you rip the turns up, but if you do you can drive into ojai its a slight detour, hakane sushi is good. Or like he said the deer lodge is good to.

The deer lodge is overrated, caters to Hardley riders, and is incredibly slow (if you do go, get the tri tip from outside, never order inside as that is where the SLOW happens). I recommend Boccalis in Ojai just a few miles off the 150. From the 33 north, go north/east to the 160, and take the almost hidden Hudson Ranch road to the right (west). That will dump you out in Frazier Park and is a must travel road. The 150 from Carpenteria to the 33 is a fun option also (passes lake Casitas). Hope the weather holds for you, and you might want to wait until things dry up as there is elevation and mud with this weather trend up the 33.

Thanks for all the tips. I think we will take the Hudson Ranch Rd to Frazier Park. It sounds very scenic. Has anyone taken the Lockwood Valley Rd. That also dumps into Frazier Park. The weather is improving so hopefully the roads will be clear.

I heard on the radio yesterday that there are some partial closures (single lane) on 33 north of Ojai, due to rock and/or mudslides.
If you do go up that way, watch out for bicycles and motorcycles. They use that road quite a bit and the bicycles rarely seem to ever move over for you, especially if they're going downhill.

We will be heading up on Saturday and staying the night in Ojai, returning on Sunday, so hopefully the roads will be cooperative. Now I'm not exactly sure which routes I will take there and back, just looking for a change for scenery! Never been to Ojai or that part of Los Padres National Forest, but is sounds like a fun adventure. Thanks for all the local feedback.

Ojai cruise was a blast. Had a beer and took in the sunset at Lake Casitas. Loving my Morimoto LED taillights from VetteLights(see picture). Hankane Sushi was excellent! Breakfast at Bonnie Lu's with a musical trio. The 33 north was still closed on Sunday due to rock slide so we took the 150 east to the 126 east to the 5 south and home. Had some fun driving up the 33 and along the 150 to Carpinteria and east toward home. Definitely will return in the spring to do the Hudson Ranch Rd and/or Lockwood Valley Rd to Frasier Park. Saw a few C7, C6's and one C5. Good times!

Sounds like a great drive. I have a daughter in Tulare. Maybe I'll make a day trip out of our next visit to the Central Valley.
