UPDATE
Due to a fully packed race schedule Sears Point Raceway has had to cancel the
Corvette Parade Lap scheduled for July 21, 2001.

http://www.corvettemuseum.com/searspoint/
Anyone going? This is a hot ticket since the CR-5 won its class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
http://www.searspoint.com/events/lemans.html

http://www.americanlemans.com/

The National Corvette Museum will be at Sears Point to work with us Corvette owners during this event (I think its a NCM event). Corral parking will be open to all
Corvettes each day until the corral is full.
There will be a Parade Lap open to the 1st 200 Corvettes in on Saturday.
There will be a drivers autograph session on Sunday just prior to the ALMS
race. After the race on Sunday there will be an auction of the Banners,
pendants etc to raise money for the museum. There will be race decals auctioned
by the museum for a children's charity.

Order tickets by calling 707 938-8448 ($40.00 for a three day pass) and using special code "C".

The schedule may be amended to accommodate local conditions.

Tim,

This race is the first of three in NorCal and will be our first chance to see the CR-5 up close. You guys always do a great caravan from Sacto, just have Terry watch out for dogs on the freeway and everything should be OK.

July 21st, being Da Guv's birthday, will probably mean I won't be making this trip...

I was told that 35 cars will be coming from Sacramento, another 40 from local Corvette clubs and they expect well over a 100 to show up. I don't think we'll be getting a parade lap since Dodge is now a track sponsor. But a corral should be no problem with that many Corvette owners buying tickets.
If you don't already have a scanner you might want to get on for this race, and to use at other racing events.

The Corvette Brand Team along with the National Corvette Museum and
Promotions in Motion, invite you to visit the Corvette Coral trackside at
Sears Point Raceway to watch the Corvette C5-R's compete in the American
LeMans Series Grand Prix of Sonoma. The race weekend begins with practices
and races on Friday, July 20th and continues through Sunday, July 22nd
winding up with the 2.5 hours ALMS race on Sunday afternoon.

To enter the Corvette Coral, you must be driving a Corvette. Parking will
be available on a first come/first serve basis all three days. A parade lap
around the track will be available on Saturday, to the first 200 Corvettes
in attendance. Sears Point Raceway is also extending a special offer to all
Corvette owners! A weekend pass for just $40.00 each - a savings of $10.00!

Passes must be ordered in advance prior to the race through the Sears Point
ticket office by calling 707-938-8448. Use special code "c" to identify you
as a Corvette owner. The Corvette Corral will be open all three days to any
and all Corvettes, as long as spaces are available.

Come join us to support the drivers and the Corvette at the Grand Prix of
Sonoma at Sears Point Raceway July 20 - July 22.

Bobbie Jo Lee
NCM Communications Coordinator

4DCYKEY,

I suggest that you celebrate "DA GUV'S" birthday with a night in Napa Valley the night before Sears Point. After all of the wine she may be willing to hang out with "DA USUAL SUSPECTS."

C5Ragtop,

Funny you should mention that alternative...it was going through my little brain just this afternoon. Maybe, if I also offer to have the KnicKnac Man throw in some knicknacs, she'll concede...

New car picture looks mighty fine.

Blue Z06,

Is Saturday or Sunday the better day to go? I may be only able to attend one day.

I'm sitting here watching Le Mans on Speedvision and getting real pumped. I haven't done anything with other C5 owners yet since I got mine back in October, but I think I'll be at Sears Point on Saturday. Looking forward to meeting some fellow C5 owners.

OK, anyone want to show up and give the winners of the GTS class at the 24 hours of LeMans a hand?

CALVette,

You think they will let us take turns behind the wheel of a C5-R.
