Oh, by the way, even if you aren't bringing a car for the show... come on out with a canned good or two! We will even accept a cash donation for the Friendship center.

The local food banks are still reeling from the effects of Tropical Storm Allison... so let's give 'em a hand and have some fun. :yesnod:

No flame intended, but maybe you should wait until October to post this instead of "ttt" for 2 months. Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the suggestion. Just want to make sure the word gets out and I figured 2 months notice is a good compromise since some of our viewers here are sporadic.

The ttt is not going to kill me, anyway... at least I hope not.

Trust me, this crowd doesn't plan that far in advance. ;) With the Southwest being so active, it's just hard to weed thru the current events, vs the events still 2 months out. BTW, in some sections of the forum, the "ttt" is against forum rules and can result in % reduction. Just FYI.

Maybe I'm missing something here.

You suggest that I don't post the event until the month of the event because people in this section don't plan two months out. You go to the Hooters car show thread which is a solid two months out (9 weeks to be precise) and post a comment that you'll be planning to attend. Nothing in your reply on that thread concerning the long lead time.

As far as the ttt goes, the rules spells out that ttt is acceptable as long as the item is adding content to site. I think the car show qualifies under the events section. You get deducted only if you utilize the ttt to run up your post count. A quick glance to the port side of the computer screen reveals that I don't post much at all... mostly reading here.

Until I posted the supplemental reply asking for extra donations, I let it go almost two weeks before I did the ttt. I don't feel that was excessively fast.

I still appreciate your suggestion and reply, nonetheless.

Have a great day!

I should be able to be there. With some help, I could have 2 cars there. Email me if you are available to ferry a car that weekend.

This looks like a good time to ask what "ttt" means? I've seen it before, and have not a clue what it means. I'd appreciate an explanation.

Thanks

It's a cheasy way to bring attention to a post no one is interested in and stick it back at the top of that board to clutter the posts people actually care about. :troll

Sometimes you don't have to utilize ttt... you just need someone to come along and misspell 'cheesy'.

Spell it anyway you want, in the end it's still pronounced S.P.A.M. :spam :troll

I am no one to say, and I guess you can accuse me of this too, but posting something about how ttt isn't wise because "no one cares" about this post(as you implied) is just as bad as posting ttt. It all takes it to the top, So perhaps the best way to have taken care of your problem, was to just ignore it all together, and not make a comment about it. (Im accused of this too, right now), but i feel I need to say something. As for saying "no one cares", I don't appreciate you speaking for me. Saying it like that is speaking for everyone. That is rude and unprofessional. The car club is trying to help out a foundation to help the people after a tropical storm, and you have the nurve to bash the guy for being 2 months in advance. :mad

This is touchy for me, as I was in the epicenter of Hurricain Floyd which whiped out all of my friends houses, as well as our beautiful down town area, it put a lot of people out of the area due to the cost to rebuild, and the $$ received from the government. All Im saying is, I know what its like to be in a shelter while your house is being rebuild, and what crummy food they have there(and scarse).

Anyway, back to the subject at hand. The guy posting the event info 2 months in advance does not deserve the sarcasm, as I for one wouldn't like to hear about an event a month in advance, for me its not enough time(I don't even think 2 months is)...Maybe im just a slow planner, or a really indepth planner.

Im not trying to flame anyone, Im just calling it as I see it, and what I see is you flaming someone over some pety thing as "ttt". And as for implying "no one cares", that is just pretty messed up. In fact I commend the guy and his area for trying to help the victums, and for posting it on the forum to try to generate attendance to there event (early), which will help the victums of the tropical storm. I don't know if you have ever been in a hurricain or tropical storm, but its not pretty, I for one have been through 7 in 4 years, and they still shake me a bit(expecally floyd). All Im saying is, BE RESPECTFUL.

Thank you for your time, sorry for the length;
Daniel

Why is it spam??? I don't think 1980LT1 posting a message about an event is spam. I also don't think bumping it to the top a few times isn't a big deal either.
But thats just me...

With the corvette club I am in (NVCC) we have most of the events planed out a year before and posted in the newsletter.

All I know is if I don't put my vacation time in 3 months in advance, sometimes I don't get the days off I need to go to car shows. So 2 months is okay by me. lou :chevy

LT, thanks for the info. I might make the drive down from Dallas. BTW, I probably would have missed this message if you waited to post it because I RARELY view this message board.

JW… nevermind.
