Texas Motor Speedway Friday Night Drags
Thinking about going out there tomorrow night. I've never been, just checked out the videos on youtube. Looks like a good time. Anybody on here been out there?

Wife and I went one night last year (or maybe the year before?), it was pretty neat, not too many fast cars from what I recall. I think the fastest was either a modded RX7 turbo or an AMG SL roadster with a V-12....there were alot of "ricer" type of cars running too.

I'm not sure if it's still this way, but the one time we went they had a "street racing" format....meaning the MC of the event was lining people up, and doing the arm drop-start for a run down pit road. No burnouts were allowed from what I recall.

When I feel the urge to hit the dragstrip I head to Texas Motorplex in Ennis. It's a sanctioned NHRA track with open racing (weather permitting starting in spring and ending in Fall) on Friday nights and Saturday all day. You'll see less rice and more muscle out there.

TMS Friday Night Drags.
Well, I attended this event for the first time Friday. All was great, until I raced a Camero in the super car class. 1/2 way down the track, I had just passed him and had a 1/2 car lead. Then, his car rocketed past me. It was clear he used Nitrous. I informed the staff and confronted the driver after the race. He would not admit to it, but other drivers that know him confirmed it. Cheating has no place in racing.

Not on this instance, I believe. The Camaro driver should've been in an appropriate class for his setup. It's broken down by car mods/type/engine at TMS.
I went to the fourth round in my wife's GS in Sportsman. Had a blast!!! First time to hit the drags since 20 years ago.

Hey Shawn, That's one of the reasons I ended up not going. I wanted to run in the sportsman class (totally stock 8 cylinder engines) but the guy that one just about every race was running a built engine and then bragged about winning on the Camaro 5 forums. I see in the rules it clearly says no nitrous.

No clock...just straight heads-up racing, first to finish wins and goes to the next round. When I got beat in the 4th round I can tell you for sure that the 'stang running me was *not* stock...doesn't matter either way to me...wife was pissed though LOL. I smoked two stangs in the 1st and 2nd round and then an AMG C class in the 3rd. Had a blast! However, it confirms what I really dislike about drag racing...a few seconds of fun followed by sitting around and waiting for awhile...that's why I have found my new love...Track Days!
