Great idea!

How about something like the Eureka Springs, Arkansas event, but in Texas. fredricksburg is a nice are with a lot of wineries and some really great roads. We could do an event with optional stuff Friday night and the main events on Saturday and Sunday. I would think things like a cruise around the back roads to some of the wineries, an autox and a car show.

San Antonio, TX is a pretty central location within texas and easily accessible from all the states. There is a great corvette shop here in town who I'm sure would LOVE to host a dyno day for all the corvette club members, than we could possibly setup a big cruise along Canyon Lake and through New Braunfels which is a popular area. Everyone would get a chance to see what kind of power their car and others cars are making, possibly have some BBQ out there as well than be able to cruise on one of the most beautiful drives I have been on.

Ok, lets try something we haven't done
My idea is:
Set up a Jail in the middle of a parking lot somewhere in Dallas or what ever city. We get the local Sheriff and have him Deputize a group of us or use his off duty officers if he prefers. More fun if we are the deputy. The deputies goal is to go arrest Mayors, City Managers & City Council persons of the surrounding towns. We would need a police escort to accomplish this. But I bet the officers would be more than willing to go with us for the fun of arresting their bosses. We pick them up in our fastest Vettes with the big cams so they have a little fun with this too. We bring them back and throw them in our jail. In order for them to get out of jail they have to earn at least 1000 dollars in donations from whomever he can call and get to pledge. We will leave their cell phone with them for this.
You the promoter can choose the cause,,"I prefer something for children".
Each vendor is required to set up a game booth of his choice beside his sales booth and charge $1.00 to try and do what ever he sets up as a game. Spectators outside of us Vette owners can join in the fun as well.
With this the Cities & County governments are involved and eliminates issues that have came up in other type runs that we have, Not to mention the TV publicity that will come out of this for the officials and our show.
Locations could be at school stadium parking lot or similar
Whatcha think

Default F1Track

How about a tour of the F1 track early next year with a drive on the track for the local Austin Corvettes?

A forum members photo shoot and gathering wouldn't be bad. A taste of all the generations with a ride around town having photogenic spots. Itll be a ride and an adventure!

That's a great idea! Feature vehicle could be the one (*cough* mine *cough*) sporting the newly won Fiske wheels.

One central location having a full weekend of activities would be awesome. Track rental, car show, maybe a coordinated cruise. Bonus points if there's an area with an active nightlife for all to congregate. I'd road trip for something like this.

My vote is for HPDE at the new Circuit of the Americas in Austin, where I am the proud holder of 2 seat licenses and can't wait for the F1 race next month! We could dovetail the HPDE event with either Australian V8 Supercars or the Rolex Event. For the people who don't HPDE, maybe we could get them a parade lap? Tailgate, car show, tour COTA, party in Austin. What is not to like about this idea? Something for everyone there!

Maybe we could even get some paddock girls to wash our corvettes in bikinis for $50/wash and proceeds go to corvette museum!

Vote for Rallyes. Can be done at all different locations, group sizes, experience levels, single day, weekend with B&B - Can even include spouses!

All different types of Rallyes: Time, T&D, Monte Carlo, Pan Am, etc.

Check out how they do it on the left coast at www.therallyeclub.org

Thinking Fredricksburg, Bandera, wineries - any kind of Rallye through the Texas hill country would be a great CF event. There are even some sweet country road routes just outside of Houston that would work just fine.

I think there should be a set of events ala H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group)... They have state rallies and a regional rally that moves around from state to state each year so that everyone can have a chance to attend at least their individual state and the occassional regional rally if it is close enough to them. If they are staggered at different times, it would be possible for people to attend multiple events in other states in the area and collect "patches" or the like at each event and a special "patch" or something if you attend all events plus the regional event.... Sort of a badge of honor/commitment to our Corvette Community. At each event you can have varying activities from autocross to local rallies or car shows and the like. This is something that is easily scalable and can grow as participation grows. This way, we could eventually have something as big as Carlisle or the like in this neck of the woods. The key is to make the events the same time of the year/same date (For example, "First Weekend in May" and stick with them so people could get used to planning for them every year

My suggestion would be to host a long weekend event to coincide with the SEMA show in Las Vegas. Surely there is some person affiliated with the forum who could arrange admittance for the group to the SEMA show. Add in some driving events at Spring Mountain, which is only a 45 minute drive from Vegas in Pahrump, a road tour to Death Valley, plus all the other attractions that Vegas has to offer (shows, a group banquet, other area sights like Hoover Dam)....

I would like to see an event that focused more on helping to keep our Vettes on the road. Maybe having a schedule of different sessions with various experts that focus on problematic areas with our cars (LT1 opti's, C5 battery issues, etc). And perhaps a huge Vette parts corral with NOS, reproductions, used parts, etc.
