In Memory of Ernest ( James E/ on the forum )
It is with sadness that I tell you all... We lost Ernest yesterday. He passed away leaving behind family and friends. He was known as "James E" here on the forum. He was also Tim's brother-in-law.
Tim, Ernest, Joe and I would go drag racing together. I have great memories of Ernest and Tim going at it on the drag strip. Ernest had one of the fastest Z06 cars that I knew of. He would make that car stick like no one could. At times he ran 10s. If you saw him at the track you would never guess he owned a RED Z06... much less believe he was that fast. Ernest was the kindest, nicest guy who was just a good old boy. I can still picture him getting into his Z06 at the drag strip in his " Blue Overalls " That's the only thing I ever saw him wear. When I once asked him if he had any other clothes he said " Yes I do. I have two more pairs of Overalls just like this one at home.".
He will be greatly missed by his racing buddies !
That's Ernest on the left with Tim next to him. I can hear him saying " Hey Tim you ready to run again ?"
Here we are lined up at the drag strip cooling the cars down.
And this was his toy.

Thanks Elio, you are right he will be missed, he really enjoyed race day.
He was a very good racer that left it all at the track. Here is a link to one of his runs, and yes that's me getting beat.
The title is our times.

Safety Car
This was James E./Ernest fastest pass at the Texas Motorplex 10.74 @ 131.43
Same night, It was Test and Tune, there was a diesel truck meet that weekend so some of those guys were testing on Friday night
Ernest was good guy and would literally give the shirt off his back if thought you needed it more than him. One time there was a post on the forum of gentlemen from an island nation in the Caribbean, the gentlemen asked if someone was open to picking him up to give him a ride in a z06. Ernest meet the guy and gave him a ride in his car.
Ernest also almost made the finals a couple of years ago when the TV show 'Pinks' was still on TV.

Safety Car
Always enjoyed lining up next to him like in that last video, even if it was a loss lol. I made my first 10 second pass in his car, will never forget his kindness. First time I met him I asked to go for a ride in his beast, next thing I knew he was tossing me the keys. Overall a great man, no pun intended as that's all I saw him wear too and will be missed. Hope I can still bang gears like he did at his age...
