Great weekend Jesper ! Gonna have to get more of the guys racing next time. So many great folks out there and amazing cars. Some fun challenges too between us all. Our C2C2 corral of cars can only get bigger from here.

Default Frank Heiden

Guys,

Debbie just told me that Frank passed away Tuesday. His funeral service will be held next Tuesday at 1 pm at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Plano.

Turrentine-Jackson (Allen location) has an obituary posted on their website.

Aalthough many didn't know it, Frank's wife Debbie was VP Dick Cheney's executive assistant throughout Cheney's 8 years in office, and prior to that was Cheney's executive secretary while Cheney was Halliburton CEO.

Frank had some interesting stories about the years when Debbie was in DC.

Frank Heiden: Nice guy, car lover, baseball fanatic, avid hunter, Texas Aggie and great grandpa to his grandsons.

Default NASCAR Coca Cola 600 pre-race stuff

Prior to today's race, an Army Blackhawk helicopter hovered over the infield and 82nd Airborne infantry fast-roped from it to the ground. My son, CWO John Worth, Jr., was command pilot of that Blackhawk. Proud of him.

First link is to a fly-around, with Airborne troopers dangling from fast-ropes dangling beneath the lead Blackhawk (with John piloting it). Keep watching and you'll see a practice run (earlier that day) which shows the troopers fast-roping from two Blackhawks.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5aK...ature=youtu.be

Here's a better video (posted by Donald Weeks on June 7) that was taken by an 82nd Airborne crewmember during the actual event. My son is the command pilot (right-hand seat) of that Blackhawk:

https://www.facebook.com/redhawks.fr...vqJuLD5BMO-5uU

This fast-rope technique was initially developed by the Army's 160th SOAR (Special Operations Aviation Regiment) to insert SEALS and Deltas, and subsequently was adopted by the 101st Airborne and 82nd Airborne.

All,

My name is Fred and I'm Franks son in-law. I would to thank all of you for the kind words both here and the obituary page. Frank had originally want to give the Vette and Z28 to his grandsons but after discussing with Debbie and his daughter they decided to sell both cars and put the money in a trust for younger grandson and the older grandson was given the Colorado truck. It will be hard to see the cars go since I helped him with a lot of the stuff on both cars. I'll keep everyone posted on when Debbie decides to put the cars up for sale.

Again thank you for the kind words,
Fred

Thanks for the kind words Fred. It wouldn't surprise me if our guys know someone who would be interested in buying one or both of those cars. The Corvette was in excellent condition, and the Camaro was truly "built." I suggest you post pictures of them here...Frank loved those cars but treated them gently.
