Zip tied mine to the grill, works perfect. No cutting, drilling, etc. Looks great.

I'd thought of doing that. However to replace a vanity plate is expensive. I may try P clamps.

To which I would agree. If one is going to install a front plate, I would at least use one from our forum vendors. Top Flight Reproductions has several for the C6 and C7 that look very well made.

I didn't skate around anything, they full on looked and didn't care. I cut a DPS cop off in Pasadena TX after I sped up to him not noticing he was DPS and he didn't care about my front plate. I explained the situation (was in a rush to a friend's wedding and got turned around) and he let me go. He didn't care..most cops don't care. They pull you over for a front plate so they can look over everything else. You get front plate tickets at this point for the way you speak to them.

Default That answe!rs that question

In the process of moving back to TX after a 20yr absence! The worst part was having to put a front plate on my C6 & was wondering if I could get away without it.
Looks like I'll have to buy a front plate mount....sucks!
But, thanks for the info!

Just put it in the windshield... Use two suction cups and put it in lower windshield on passenger side. That's all I do. Never been pulled over for it. Cops have looked right at it after pulling me over for other reasons and never said anything about my plate.

Don't buy one unless you have to. Worst case you send them a pic with it zip tied on, and leave it off. Don't believe the hype..cops don't give a damn unless they're having a bad day or need probable cause to search.

BTW, that's still illegal. Per the law it needs to be on the front most part of the vehicle. I've had friends in beaters get pulled over and ticketed with the plate there.

Plus it makes for a potentially dangerous flying object in the event of a crash.

Ditto the sun visor. Edge of the plate is like a knife under the right conditions.

Yes I know it's illegal. I was just giving you an option other than drilling holes in your bumper. I have many other objects in car that would probably kill me before my license plate got to me. In the event of a crash. I'd rather pay the fine then drill holes into my bumper. Or have an ugly license plate on the bumper

Mine is now on the C7 because my youngest drives it quit often. Being a single dad and in college, he can't afford the $200 fine. If it were just myself, I'd keep it off.

I've been pulled over 4 times in the past 9 months and I've never gotten a ticket, let alone a no front plate ticket. Cops walk right to the front of my car, check my registration, look for the plate, and walk back to their car.

You had bad luck and met the wrong cop, go put your plate on, drive the speed limit, and deal with it. You act like we're paying $200/mo to run our cars without the plate. It's a beauty tax.
That is a great way to think about it, I hate front plates on my cars.

I just purchased a front license plate bracket for my 2011 Grand Sport thru TheDoubleAA.com and it came in today. Got it installed after crawling around on the ground under the front of the GS. Would sure have been nice to lift it up a little. The reason I bought one is Texas DPS...
For those of you who know, I recently had an accident in my 2009 Corvette and ended up getting a 2011 Corvette Grand Sport...nice car....Last week, I got stopped this on my way home from the dentist in Tyler, over in Jacksonville by a Texas DPS Trooper. He was very polite. I explained that I was a retired officer, and He let me get out of the car and show him the old bracket off my 2009 base model, that was in the trunk with my new plate attached. I explained that I had only gotten the car less than a month ago, an only had the plates a week. I told him that I was also enroute to Bacon Chevy, which we could see in the distance, to see if they had a bracket or could make this one fit... He was very kind and issued me a warning ticket. As I was standing outside, waiting behind my car, I happen to notice that his DPS Unit did not have a front license plate.....being a retired law enforcement officer myself, when he finished his speal about the warning ticket and I signed for it, I got a little sh*t eating grin on my face and asked how he liked giving tickets like this, when his own DPS Unit didn't have a license plate on the front of it....he looked at it, and then looked back at me, and sheepishly said...its my Corporals Unit...Corporal was riding as his shotgun....I'm sure they had a conversation about it when he got back in the Unit. Bet they didn't write any more of those that day...ha...
