Default DFW exhaust shop to install full Z06 exhaust

Hey guys,

Anyone recommend a shop to install a full z06 exhaust including manifolds on an 09 manual for a decent price? I've checked most of the shops around here and most want $500-600 which seems a little steep to me. If I can't find a place, I may do it myself, but if LT headers are a lot easier to install, I may even go the used route with those and install them myself. I'm in the Lewisville area.

Thanks,
Daniel

21st Century Muscle Cars. They just did a ton of work, including LTs and exhaust, on my 08 and did an amazing job.

$500-$600 for an OEM exhaust swap?

That's the downside to telling a shop its on a Corvette BEFORE they quote you the price.

Shouldn't take a competent muffler shop more than 2 hours max to swap out an OEM exhaust.

FWIW, swapping out an exhaust is a great time to swap spark plugs as well.

Well, I tried all the speed shops in the area first and they want the same price. I've called several exhaust shops and most didn't want to work on it except one, and they pretended like they knew what they were talking about including working on plenty of vettes. Then I showed up and they looked like a deer in headlights... The guy said this was really the first vette they've ever worked on, and it was going to be 3 times the amount they quoted on the phone.... ummm...??? wtf... no thanks.

I think I'm just going to do it myself. But at this point I think I'd rather go with used LT headers vs the Z06 manifolds if I'm going to install it myself since I can find some fairly cheap now and think it might be easier to do than the z06 manifolds. I just didn't think I would be charged that much for it. Had FLP headers and full exhaust installed on a TA for $300 and that's way harder to do than a vette...

There is a guy up in McKinney I had work on a BMW and my Porsche. Shop is called McKinney speed. Hit him up and I'm sure he'd swing a deal for you. Tell him Taylor sent you.

I had Apex Performance, now in Addison, install my Z06 manifolds/cats/midpipe and then took it myself to a muffler shop to reduce the 3" to match my existing 2 1/2". If you are doing manifolds to mufflers you could take it him and he should be able to do the complete swap.

Typically when customers have us do it, we tune them too...but you don't have to.

If you are doing Z06 mufflers at the same time, everything is a complete bolt on...if not yeah you do have to do some modifications to either the H pipe or the muffler pipes.

Going to need new gaskets and 02 extensions for the fronts if I remember right.

From the cars we have done in the past...makes about 1/2 of what a long tube setup makes.

Anthony,

I already got the gaskets. I wasn't going to bother with the extensions, but I may get some anyway.

Thanks for all the help, guys. I'll call those places and let you know what I find out.

Try C and M Auto and Tire at the NE corner of 35 and Royal. Moses will charge by the hour. I think it was $60 per hour. He welded my NPP on for $110 but it was cut at the can and a hard weld. He did a good job and fair.
