The Corvette Museum won't cover every car. I tried to get an online quote on my 2016 Z06 and I was declined because it said my risk was not great enough.

He also has my two hemi challengers and my two old Trans Ams.

I had Hagerty on my cars and loved them but Adam beat their price substantially. Give him a call only if you want to save money!

So, OP, lookee here! Both national firms and DFW area. Quite a difference, huh? Zymurhy is paying approximately 1/3 of what you are. You seem to have left the thread, but it would be interesting to compare some more details to see if these two quotes are really comparable at all. Some factors:

* What are your coverages?
* What are your deductibles?
* How long have you had the policy?
* How old are you?
* How many miles do you drive per year?
* Do you have off street covered parking?
* What neighborhood do you live in?
* What other insurance with the same company do you have?
* What is your driving record--really?
* What's your credit score?

There has to be something serious going on for your coverage to be triple what Zymurgy is paying in the same area. Care to explore the differences?

Anybody know why they use your credit score among other things to figure your rate? I can't see how driving habits would be any different if you have either a high, medium, or low score.

Been through this. The first time this happened to me the company, Pemco, sent a note saying my credit score was insufficient to earn the highest rate. I wrote a hot letter to the company president protesting this action and got a call back from one of his "assistants" who was actually quite apologetic. He told me that credit scores had proven to be statistically significant predictors of claim rates and that a higher credit score was predictive of lower claims. He said he was one who had argued against using them and had told his group that there would be a backlash against it, of which I was a living example.

Now the funny thing. At the time my credit score was in the mid 700s, which is actually very good. It has since moved to above 825, which is absolutely excellent and gives me the best rate ever, not only on insurance, but also loans. Indeed, I have no debt at all, but I bought my last car on time (at 0% interest rate) just to keep the credit reporting companies happy.

I don't understand why an insurance company should have access to your credit score. You are not getting a loan. Frankly, such intrusiveness should be illegal. And I have a score of 800.

Here's a little trick: It isn't actually your "Credit Score," It's your "Insurance Credit Score." This has been developed specifically for insurance companies as a predictor of CLAIM risk in the same way your age and sex are.

Safeco is awful. Go with Triple A (AAA) Texas insurance.

I got great rates with Allstate when I switched less than a year ago. But when upgrading to a newer Corvette (same car, just different year & same coverage), the rate more than doubles. So I think those "intro" rates are tied to a specific car as well as time period.

Thats what they did to me. As soon as I swtched to the new one they doubled my rates. They claimed it had to do with the body. Luckily I only have fire and theft on it 5 months out of the year. Mine is just a base car like before.

I just bought my first Corvette (2/29/2016) at first I figured the insurance alone would put this out of the realm of realistic possibility, however using National General Insurance it was quite reasonable I pay $489.00 per year full coverage with $250,000 / $500,000 limits (Washington State)

Daily driver= higher rates
Not a daily driver = availability of specialty coverage, example is NCM, less than $700 yr.

We live in more rural Llano county, 50 miles west of Austin. $940 every six months but that covers a '15 BMW X-5 and my '14 Z51 Stingray. With Progressive.

Mine is $505/6 mo. with these coverages, except I have $100 ded. on comp. and no uninsured motorist.

Absolutely the BEST if you drive 6000 miles a year or less....you can even get a waiver to drive it to work twice a week....

I wonder what the rate would be in Seattle? Probably quite a bit higher? , but when I move down to Lake Havasu, AZ it will be half that.
