Default AZ emissions testing for a 74 Vette?

I keep seeing conflicting reports on whether I need to have emissions testing (just had my dads 74 L48 shipped down and getting some work done on it).

AZ DOT doesn't say there are exemptions, but some other places say if it's registered as a classic vehicle and is driven less than 2500 miles a year it can be exempt.

Any locals have some input (until I can call and find out for sure?)

Thanks!

That is correct if your registered as a classic your exempt. It's also a different emissions test if your earlier than 1996 I believe, kinda like a state inspection, checking brakes, etc. I work with a guy who drives a early 80's GMC with this plate., he told me about the tests if your pre 96.
Good luck.
PS that's my 74 in my avatar, wish I would have kept her.

You need classic insurance to bypass emissions testing, or be registered in counties other than Maricopa and Pima.

I'll need to check to see is USAA counts for classic insurance. One reason I posted another thread asking how companies like Grundy and Hagarty's were.

Thanks!

I'm using Safeco "agreed-upon value" to get mine.

Maricopa County and whatever county Tucson is are the only two counties in Az that have emissions testing. No smog testing for any year car in the rest of the state.
