Default Planning Trip To Lone Star Corvette Classic in 2018...Need Help

My Club is wanting to go to the Lone Star Corvette Classic in 2018 and I was "elected" (more like shanghai at gun point ) to plan the trip. My club (Corvette Cruisers of Atlanta) is based in Atlanta Ga. and I need y'all help with...well everything.

Any help with where to stay while there( be it at the host hotel or somewhere close by that is *better, by *better I mean cheaper and yet still nice clean hotel). How fast does the host hotel get booked up, should we be booking rooms in January or as late as march? I have no idea how big this show is.

Any tips or tricks on going to this show for first timers (Hell, I've never set foot in Texas) will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks John

Since you have never set foot in Texas, I would recommend that you stay in downtown Fort Worth. If you want to stay at the venues hotel that is fine, but there are many nice places to see in downtown Fort Worth. If you on a budget and just looking for low cost places close then there are other hotels on 35 close to the track. Hope this helps.

Ps the classic is a good time!

Thank you, I'll run staying in downtown Fort Worth with everybody and see how that goes over. we are not on a low budget, however with that said if we can save a buck or 2 that is always a good thing .

Thanks Again, This helps

Stay at the Speedway Marriott on Championship Drive. it's the headquarters hotel and is very reasonable. You will be right in the thick of things and right across the street from Texas Motor Speedway.

Thanks for the info! How quickly does it book up? Do we need to make reservations in January or do we have a couple months or so?

Usually they have rooms available for a month or so after the block opens. Call the Marriott on Championship Drive and ask when the block opens and if you can be first in line.

You will have a great time staying here. The parking lot is full of Corvettes and you will see and be able to visit with hundreds of Corvette people. the NCM people will be there as well as other notables from Chevrolet. Did I mention the big gathering on the patio after the banquet on Saturday night? The Lonestar Corvette Club puts on a first class event.

Just a heads up: In case anyone decides NOT to stay at the host hotel where the majority will be, their events schedule will probably not be on time. Meaning...if they say they're doing a cruise..or dinner..or whatever at X time..expect that to be early or later than posted time. This means you may miss an event if you're not right there at the hotel hanging out. This happened to me first time we went and was a real bummer.

Also...as far as places to eat, you'll have lots of choices and suggestions.

One you do NOT want to miss, however, is a road trip to Heim's BBQ in Ft. Worth. I assure you that any other BBQ place suggestions will not be as good. There are lots of good ones around DFW, but this is really one that is truly outstanding. Get the Bacon Burnt Ends and the moist brisket, you'll be glad you did.

Great places to eat in Roanoke just five miles from the Marriott and the speedway.

Thanks for the heads up! It's looking like we'll be shooting for the Host Hotel, but will keep this in mind if we don't.

Well the track crew do a great job and they close it up at noon for lunch. Even if you just do the AM session it will be worth it, its a great time!

another vote for Hard Eight...

if you want to get out one day to a nice Breast-raunt, head over to my neck of the woods for Tight Ends, or Wild Pitch
