Default Replace Front Bulb - Dallas Area

hey Guys,

I came to this certified shop to replace bulb of only one side.
They want to charge me over $600 ($300 in parts + $300 in labor).

do you guys think this is a fair price? Let me know if you already experienced that.

Also, if you have some trustable shop to recommend I would appreciate.

thanks a lot.

They said this is highly bright light. I asked If they had available less bright and cheaper, they said they didn’t have.

The price of the bulb is way too high. You can get a pair of bulbs for half that. BTW, you should replace both while the bumper is off anyways. Otherwise you may see a difference in color.

The price of the labor sounds ok considering the bumper has to come off.

I don't know what the going "fair" price should be but any I have seen in the past few years have been in the expensive ballpark! Hoping not to have to fave this anytime soon.

Thanks for your help. Is there any website or shop you recommend?

Check the bulb prices from our forum parts suppliers: Cultrag Performance, Trunk Monkey Parts and GM Parts Direct.

The first question I would ask is how many times has this “certified” shop taken off the front bumper and removed the headlight on a C7?

I took off my own front bumper and replaced the 2 bulbs with 6K bulbs for ~$250. Screw paying some shop $300 to R/R the front nose.

Know if a tutorial exist on this procedure? Just wondering........I'd like to be prepared to DIY my C7's lamps/bulbs at home, if it's doable.

If a 73 year old fart can do it, it can be done.

How's this?

There is a clip at the top of the cover that is between the head light pod and the engine bay. Use the trim tools to pry up at the mid point and do this on both sides. Once it pops up out of the clip, it'll fall to the floor.

Get a set of trim removal tools too! http://www.summitracing.com/parts/OES-25314

That video helped me a lot the first time i did it. I've probably done it 4 or 5 times total by now on 3 different C7's. Not bad at all.

It's sad when it costs $600 to replace a headlamp. Just curious, if it burns out during the 36 month / 36,000 bumper to bumper warranty, is it covered or is this like a tire going bald?
