1963 Corvette GSII found in Midland,TX
Since I've gotten so much out of the C6 Z06 forum over the years, I've decided to post this here first.
Ok, Corvette fans, I'm sure many of you have read about the Corvette GS II from the early 60's. But did any of you ever ponder what happen to it? The road leads to Texas and Jim Halls Chaparrals. Here's a link for the back ground. https://www.supercars.net/blog/1963-...orvette-gs-ii/
Now you might be wondering where did it go? Well, last night me and about 15 of my buddies found out. It's been in Jim's old garages at Rattlesnake Raceway, under an old dusty cover, waiting for Mr. Hall to let it see the light of day. So, after about 53 years, The Corvette GS II is about to take up permanent residence not in the National Corvette Museum, but rather in the Chaparral Gallery at the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum along side the Chaparrals right here in West Texas. Midland, TX to be exact. The car was cleaned up and here's the first teaser pics taken less than 24 hours ago. More pics to follow.

WOW......I remember Jim Halls Chaparrals from when I was a kid. I see a resemblance in the Corvette GS II! Thanks for posting this.

OP , thanks for posting. That’s some way cool Corvette history.
Ps , your Avatar reminded me of a Porsche 911 that used to be in the street racing scene in Austin about 20 years ago. It’s plate was “ 321 GO”.

I just found out that the Corvette GS II is now on display at the Chaparral Gallery located in the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum! A good time to see the car and all of Jim Hall's famous Chaparral racers might be to visit during the 8th annual "Party On The Patio" in June. Here's the details:
8th Annual Party on the Patio
Saturday, June 9, 2018
6:00 -8:00 pm
Featuring a Chaparral 2 Live Drive, Dinner, and Q&A with Jim Hall.
The party is a free, ticketed event for Chaparral Pit Crew Fan Club Members ONLY. Reservations are required. RSVP to Luanne Thornton at lthornton@petroleummuseum.org or 432-683-4403 by May 30th. It’s not too late to join or renew your membership; call, email, or click here to become a member today!
