damn that sucks...

Do you own the boat? Or is it mostly the banks? The bank may be able to help you out if they have an interest in it.

Also check with your insurance man for pointers.

Also try to find out who bought the dealers assets, also who bought Mariahs assets.

Also check around for other dealers that may still honor mariah warranty work.

Tony

That sucks. By going out of business do you mean bankruptcy> If yes you will need to file a claim or claims in the bankruptcy court and do not wait to file. I would imagine the local dealer has no real liability to you on warranty issues you will probably have to approach the manufacturer. They either sold, filed bankruptcy or ceased operation.
Sold-find out who they sold to and if they sold the liability to warranty claims along with that sale-go after that new owner. If they did not sell the warranty claims then the original owner of the manufacturer will be liable-you may have to sue.
Bankruptcy-file claim in bankruptcy court and get ready for a long wait to get anything.
Shut down- The old owner should be liable for warranty claims if all they did was cease manufacturing...you may have to sue to get anything though.

Hope this helps.......good luck

Will we see you tomorrow at the picnic?

hmmm... looks like I am going to have to do some research...

i think they just WENT OUT OF BUSINESS ..... how do i find out if bankruptcy was filed??

National Boat Center in Ft Worth is the dealer
Mariah Boats is the maker

it was the water pump Ray, which in turn burned up alot of boots and bellows in the exhaust track in the out drive

damn

I'm sure theit creditors want to be paid as much as you want your boat fixed. I think the bankruptcy court statement above is your best chance for recourse.

Tony,

Are you talking about the dealership on I-30? If so, I thought they moved alittle further down the highway into a larger building.

I work over on that part of Ft. Worth. If need be, I can drive by there and find out.

If your boat has a mercruiser in it, is it possible to take it to another mercrusier shop/dealer and have any warranty work performed?

Problems with Engine and out drive are covered by the engine mfr (Mercruiser?) - has nothing to do with the boat mfr or the dealer - go anywhere that is authorized. If the boat is pretty new, Mercruiser can sometimes make exceptions depending on your circumstances.

Find another Mercruiser dealer (assuming you have Merc's) and plead your case. Or contact Mercruiser direct. I have had very good luck with them over the years by showing that my boat is exceptionally well maintained, and the problem was a common problem. Impellers frequently are not covered because usually if they go out in a short time it is due to owner error - so you need to prove to them that you know what you are doing and did not cause the problem.

Good luck

RAT

DAAAAAAAAAAA. Silly me never thought of the fact that it was an engine\outdrive issue. Looks like you are headed in the right direction It should be a Mercruiser issue not boat manufacturer.

Impellers are not covered under warranty becaust like car brake pads they WEAR OUT OVER TIME. Unless you were running your outdrive out of the water the short time you have had the boat should not have created an impeller problem unless it came from the factory with a problem.

It can only take once or twice running the outdrive out of water to create impeller damage.

Missed you Saturday at the picnic it was fun.

Hope it all works out.....go get em

Good luck. My last boat I sold last summer had twin 500HP mercs. I've got a theory on boats. First two years should be relatively trouble free. After that, just send your mechanic $250 (per motor) every quarter (not including routine maintenance - that's just for stuff that breaks). That should keep the pot right.

Also, boat mechanics are really a different breed. Buy them their favorite beverage late in the day, find one and be loyal to him, and get in front of him personally when you are desperate. As soon as you leave his facility, someone else will walk in and distract him from your job. I'm no attorney, but I got lot's of practical experience with boat mechanics.
