I just thought I would let everyone know, Nick just sent me an Email to confirm the pistons should be in by Wednesday. My motor should be shipped by Friday, or Monday at the latest!

Vetzilla, he also says he will have the block on a stand, with rods, and crank, waiting for pistons (if you want to confirm when you are there).

I have to tell you, every phone conversation I had with Nick or Chris was completely professional. They helped guide me in the right direction for my application and I have been very impressed. I can't wait to get pictures so I can post as we get the car put back together!

At this point I am looking forward to my car, once again, becoming a BEAST!

Actually the vendor for the heads charged my card in full the same day I placed the order, I was a couple of days away from my 60 day window to dispute, and got a little nervous. APE charged 50% upon order and called for the other 50% a few days from shipping motor. Maybe in Hogurts case they were planning on shipping motor based on Diamonds indication of when pistons would be there and got second payment planning on shipping.
I also had small delay because of custom Diamond pistons. I agree that the telephone and PM support from them was very good in my case as well, I was one of the first ones to order during this sale so I'm sure that helped since it sounds like they got bombarded with orders on the last 2 days of the sale.

Hogurt,
I apologize for the CC charge prior to the engine shipping! That is not how we normally do it, we usually charge you only a day or two prior to it shipping. That was my mistake and I apologize for it!! We still look good for yours to be done and gone Friday or at worst Monday. Once again I apologize for the mistake.

Vettzilla, most of the negative feedback on the other forum is from people that we have never done business with. We are set back right now on delivery times, I will admit that first hand. We sold more engines in the last two days of the sale then most shops sell all year. We did not expect that and got run over by it. The sale generated almost 50 engines.............we did 68 all of last year. I hope that put's in to perspective the amount of engine we have going on right now. If you show up to our shop tomorrow, you will see the wall in the engine room and what we have left to build............still alot of them left.

I have always been a beliver in not making any judgements until I have all the facts. That is why I do my best to deal with just the facts and none of the b.s. which lets face it there is a ton of to go around.

I definitely plan on coming by tomorrow to see the new APE, I had some dealings with the old management and have not had a opportunity to revist the shop since you took ownership.

Thank you for posting this reply, it has put some questions I had to reast and I am sure it makes Hogurt feel much better

Nick was assembling a 370 iron block said it was yours, when I was there he was putting in the main studs and getting ready for the crank. He said Friday. I didn't see the pistons but he said everything was there

Sorry APE cheerleaders but I TOLD YOU SO, hopefully your posts telling everyone what a great shop they are didn't hurt to many people.

I was kicked around 6-7 months ago when I warned folks as 2k1vert and well we see were things stand now. My posts removed by the moderators. I learned a lesson about forum rules in the process too. Oh well. I hope Corvette Forum members are not out of too much money.

Like I said in another post - the warnings were all over the internet.. I'm certainly sorry to see them go, but, you can't possibly expect to get a quality forged motor for $2,200.. The parts are more than that..

I sent PM's to the Administrators over 2 weeks ago asking them to look into this and look APE is still on the sponsor bar??????????????????

I can't fault them for not doing anything if they are not aware of a problem but it seems that once one exists the amount of time it takes for action to be taken is way to long and during this period people get burned.

I suggest that this forum opens a Sponsor Feedback section like LS1 tech so everyone can communicate better and possibly eliminate this situation from occuring again.

Everyone understands shops are going to have promoters and detractors but I feel there can never be to much information to review good and bad before we select where we are going to spend our hard earned money

With all that. Just think of money that could haved saved the forum members $$$ if people didnt only see the roses of a place.

I don’t have any insight on what’s up with AP Engineering as I have heard nothing from anybody there since April 26 after being alerted to this thread by Vetzilla.

Based on the last I read here and elsewhere on the Internet, APE was bogged down with more orders than they could produce quickly but they seemed to be responding to the concerns of customers.

I sent APE a link to this thread on April 25 and they responded on April 26. Hobart seemed to be pleased by the response as did Vetzilla, who last reported on April 28 that he had visited APE and saw Hobart’s motor being put together.

Today, some of you are reporting they are out of business and the Forum link to the APE website isn’t giving a return.

Unfortunately, the Forum isn’t able to monitor the daily performance of supporting vendors who are scattered across the country. That’s why we allow Forum members to post factual accounts of unresolved disputes. Then, those threads go into the Forum’s archives and are available by search when other Forum members want to research a product or a company.

We’ll try again to contact APE to see what response we can get on this situation. It is the practice of the Forum to try and help members resolve issues with vendors and other members. We do that offline and have had some success in doing so.

When those efforts have failed or we have found a pattern of unresolved issues, we have on several occasions removed supporting vendors from the Forum. In this instance, that may be a moot point if APE has removed itself from the market.

If any of you have any insight on the current situation with APE or have an unresolved dispute with them, please let us know.

We’ll leave this thread open for the exchange of factual information on the situation. If it becomes a bash fest, the thread will be locked.

Vetzilla I take serious offense to your statement, I posted my dealings with APE on my shortblock which I ordered on Dec 27th, and received mid feb. No problems, professional service, and great quality. Obviously something has happened in the last 3-4 weeks but this was well after I got my motor. I did plenty of research last year on which vendor to go with and LS1 tech had almost all positive comments about them. You going around with your "I TOLD YOU SO" trying to make people feel quilty for posting their experiences and trying to blame us for people gettin hurt is wrong I feel sorry for anyone that lost money, but I don't feel sorry for posting my experience when something went well for me.
Had I had a crystal ball in feb. I certainly would have told people to stay away, but the first sign of trouble wasn't posted on Tech until mid April.

Eric,

You aren't the target in this. Most of the BS went down on LS1tech as their mods were deleting / editing posts that were warning users about APE. They couldn't censor threads quickly enough and now they are shrugging their shoulders asking 'how could this happen....'

This whole quote was BS. You've got no business telling anyone "I told you so" because you were kissing Chris' aze when he posted above. You didn't warn anyone about anything until stuff started getting posted on LS1tech so don't try and make youself look important.

Me and Eric had really good experiences with APE as did many people before this current mess. I don't apologize to anyone for what I posted because it was a factual account of what happened. All you did was bandwagon once things started going bad. I don't know what happened at APE that caused the current situation and I hope everyone can somehow work things out, but unless you have psychic powers and can see the future maybe you should STFU and not blame people who actually did business with APE and had good experiences.
