Default Attn: Ducgsxr, and John Page, regarding the red 427 car

Hello Ducgsxr,

I understand that you have your car for sale on consignment through John Page at 21st Century Musclecars. I am the previous customer of John's that put the 40k offer for the car, after which you came down to 43k, then I moved up to 41.5k with a stock hood, etc...

To make a long story short, as we were in negotiations for the car, and as I was awaiting for John to diagnose a clunking sound in the back of the car, I got an email from John half an hour ago saying "The Red Vette deal is off the table now. I sold the motor and will be installing a stock or Heads & cam motor in it."

I called John and asked wtf, and he claimed to have told me this morning about putting the motor up for sale to another customer. I asked John, did you buy the car from Ducgsxr yourself yet before selling it? John said, "No, he doesn't even know yet. I'll tell him later. But I've already got a deposit on credit card for the motor out of that car, and I'm buying the car from him myself to part it out. I sold the motor for a major chunk of that 43k so I'm coming out way ahead."

I don't think it's fair, ethical, or proper business practice as a dealer/consigner, to bait a potential customer until they do all the negotiation work for you, and then ****** it from under them. John had all the time in the world to buy the car from you as it sat at 21MC for a month. But he bought it from under me as you and I were in the middle of negotiations, without warning me that he was planning to part it out. (he claims he told me this morning, but I thought again about our conversation this morning and the only thing he asked was, would I want the car for less without the Brembos/HREs/seats?).

Just wanted to let you, and the community, know what just happened.

Sincerely,
Andi Baritchi

Andi Baritchi,

Your internet blackmail attempt is inaccurate, I would expect a more accurate write up from a writer for a up and coming Driver's magazine that I know you write for, are they aware that when you don't get you way that you will resort to tactics like this on public forums to smear the reputation of a small business and a five plus year advertiser/supporter of The Corvette Forum?

I will post the facts as they are and if anyone would like copies of e-mails or statements from other people with the TRUE story please contact me at your convenience.

We have a beautiful 2002 Z06 with a Lingenfelter 427
Package that we are trying to sell for a out of state customer here at 21st Century Muscle Cars.
The car is advertised for 47,500. and the customer is taking a big loss at even this amount.

Mr Andi Baritchi contacted me with interest in the car,
I provided a list of what was done to the car and went out with him for a test drive in the car.
When we got back from the test drive he mentioned he was concerned with a rattle in the rear of the car and wanted a leak down test, a compression test and a Air Fuel Analysis performed on the motor as well as a dyno report. I told him that shouldn't be a problem and although we were busy we should be able to get to it soon.

Andi Baritchi then made a informal verbal offer of 40,000. for the car but said he would leave a deposit if needed.
I told Andi the customer would not go that cheap on the car as I had already made the same offer to the owner and I would buy it for my personal use if he would for in fact sell it for 40,000. but I would make the offer anyway.

I contacted the owner of the car and told him of the offer and he responded with he would definitely not go that low and 43,000.00 was his bottom price not 1 penny less and didn't want to pay any dyno fees or repair charges on items you wanted performed by our shop.
Your email below to me after driving the car and getting back with you on his refusal of the 40k offer

It was a pleasure seeing you again today and i enjoyed the test drive. Thanks for getting back to me so quick.
For me, 43k is still just a little too high even for that car, with c6z's going in the 50s now. I can stretch up to 41.5, but it's real important to me that the rear noise be taken care of. I actually would prefer to get it with a stock hood, which as you know is worth a lot less than this car's DRM hood...

I reinterated on your follow up call that 43k was his bottom dollar and told you that I had a previous customer I was going to e-mail that might be interested in the motor in the car and you said nothing,
I told you in detail that he was a previous customer with a Heads and Cam car we did and would probably sell it with his motor installed.

I did in fact contact my customer shortly after talking to you and he did want to buy the engine for the price I quoted him and gave me a deposit and confirmation that he wanted to buy it and would be dropping the car off shortly for the install.

I then sent you an e-mail telling you that the 43,000 deal was off the table as I was selling the motor and swapping the configuration of the car and buying it myself.

You then called me and said "What the *** are you doing?"
I told you that I gave you the customers lowest price and you refused to go that much and reinterated that I told you I was e-mailing my customer for interest in buying the motor and going a different direction with selling the car.

If you were willing to pay the bottom price of 43k why didn't you agree when I told you I was e-mailing a customer to buy the engine out of the car?
You answered by saying that "you didn't understand what I was saying" I know for a fact you are a smart fellow and know the comprehension of that to be what you would understand.

I am pretty sure that you are mad at yourself for not paying the customer the 43k that it was well worth and simply trying to deflect by turning it around to somehow be my fault and to make me and our company look bad.

You sir have no one to blame but yourself on this one as you could have paid what I told you several times was the customers bottom dollar price.

I will not keep a posting marathon going regarding this matter and frankly can't believe you would choose to post this in a public forum instead of handling it privately.

If anyone needs formal documentation to the true facts of this situation, please feel free to contact me
and sorry for the drama to have to be on the forum taking up bandwidth.

Best Regards,
John Page

I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt and assume this fits the bill as an unresolved dispute. As such, each party with first-hand knowledge has given his version of the facts, the thread will be locked and will go into the archives.
