Shout Out For Ernie and the Wilcox Team
I have been having a hellava time with an alleged new old stock headlamp switch I installed last year. It came in an aged opened GM spam can and was an eBay purchase.
The switch appeared new and I tested the vac ports according to the established forum methods.. About 3-4 months later while driving at night I smelled an electrical smell. Shortly thereafter I lost my interior dash lights. Then they would come on intermittently until finally failing completely. For the last 6 months I was having to start the car and pull out the head lamp **** all the way so the wiper door would close after startup and then push the headlamp switch all the way back in and have both lights close smartly. While investigating I shut off the car and pulled out the headlamp switch to the 1st position only for the running lights and heard a hiss as vac escaped. So much for NOS. Probably a warranty item that got sold again? This was getting old needless to say. Fast forward...................
I contacted Wilcox and explained my problem. He had his staff pull a known good and working switch and tested it for me before shipping it. I have to yet install it but I have to say with that customer service we should be supporting this vendor at every opportunity we can I know I will. Thanks Wilcox staff and Ernie for the above and beyond service.
I believe, I will be able to install this switch with confidence when I get the time. I am dreading ripping everything apart again. Gotta love the General.
