I have a 96 with the spare delete. Dumped my runflats too.
I have a small compressor, a tire patch kit, some pliers and a cell phone.
I can afford to have a tire crew and new tire choppered in for the savings.

I am running without runflats too. I carry the following:
* Can of fix-a-flat (as last resort due to sensors)
* Tire plug kit.
* Small compressor.
* Cell Phone.
* Gun.
* Collapsible Tire Wrench.
* Ready-to-go 18 inch OEM wheel/tire combo (at home that I can have brought to me if I'm close, or can carry on extended trip if I choose to).

Have you guys ever had a flat in your C5 with the non-runflats? Are most of your flats just nail slow leaking flats? Has anybody had a blowout with a non-runflat or a runflat?

Copperhead. I had 3 blowouts in 1979 and 2 in 1990. Bought a new Oldsmobile (1979) that had BFGs on it. The RF, LR and RR all blew within the first 10,000 miles.
Got to thinking about it and put a set of Michelins on it.
Bought a new suburban in 1990 that had tiger paws and had 2 blow outs in 5,000 miles. You guessed it - Michelins.
I have bought nothing but Michelins until recently and have had no problems except slow leaking nails and screws for the last 1,000,000 miles.
The locals wanted $1,700 for a set of EMT run flats, Tire rack wanted around $1,200 then I would have to pay for mounting, etc.
No other run flat choices due to 17" rims and the sizes required. At least you C5 guys have a few to choose from - and a little competition in pricing.
I was praying over what to do when Tirerack put the old Sz50s on sale. Got a set for $500 - no brainer.
I can always undelete the spare by removing a brace and installing the holder, etc.
Right now I am enjoying the thrill of no spare driving.

I have BFG KD's and have the typical stuff, patch kit, lug socket, cell phone, AAA, small compressor with a light built in, and a mini flashlight, rubber gloves, and a blanket. I am also considering buying a cheap 2 ton jack to bring along on the longer trips, just in case I get stuck on the boonies, it is a lot easier to pull a tire and fix it. I also like the other option of an 18" mini spare.
So far I have only had a slow leak from a nail, no big blowouts.

Since I can not get the Yokohama AVS Sport Runflat (they are backordered) and I really do not want the firestone runflat...I am going to probably go bridgestone S-03 and try non-runflat tires....

I've had both a nail slow leak and a massive blow out with OEM G'year Runcraps. The blowout was due to running over a large sharply pointed rock in the road at night while following another car.
I limped home about 50 miles. Was obviously glad I had the runcrap for that, but I've switched to non runflats for performance, and just carry stuff (as per above) for any emergency.
