Default Crystal red caliper paint

I'm looking into painting my calipers red. I am not sure how the standard red caliper paint would match my Crystal red C6 2012 though.
Has anyone done that? How's it look? Or can I get Crystal red caliper paint somewhere?

Thanks
KZ

A good powdercoater may be able to match the crystal red paint very well. Might check with a shop and see what they say.

IMO, the torch red caliper paint may clash a bit with the car's color. Painting the calipers silver would look good.

Thanks. That's kinda what I thought too. Not sure I want to pay for powder coating. May need to just save up for that. Never thought about silver. Nor seen that done before. Hmmm

I ordered a kit today. I'll let you know how it looks when completed.

I just gave them my color code and they match it.

I got everything painted today. Looks amazing! And perfect color match from http://www.g2usa.com/

I put some chapstick on the letters before painting and after the paint job was complete and dried, the paint on the letters just wiped off (only had to use a tiny bit of sandpaper to complete the job on the letters.

I ended up using an even smaller brush than what came with the kit.
I thought that my left-over paint could be used for later, but even in the closed jar, it turned like hard jello overnight. In hind-sight I would only mix 3/4 of the jar and use that up first.

Mag Red - wanted something different than the body color, was kicking a sort of yellow, but not sure with red....probably will end up with a gunmetal grey type color or black....

All of those sound good. I personally like them to stand out some. In some applications, I even like the yellow contrast color.

Good luck with your decision. Whatever it is, it's always better than stock.

I decided to go with yellow (G2 kit) on my previous gray RX-8. Now that I have a silver C5 I'm also stuck trying to decide what to do. Here's some pix of my 8 if that helps you at all.

Default Car Calipers

I also got fitted and for proper combination I took the advice of my spouse. Her Choice was really excellent and it is liked by my all friend circles.

Has anyone gone thru the trouble of taking the calipers completely off to paint them? When I did my RX-8 I left them on (removed the pads) but this time I was thinking it would be nice to have them off to really clean them well first and be able to paint them on my work bench vs sitting on the ground.

Here is my Crystal Red calipers that I removed from my 3LT-Z51-M7 and painted with G2 caliper paint but instead of brushing I sprayed them , and the Corvette decals came from Tower Decals. When I ordered the car I ordered it with red calipers and didn't realized how bad they clashed with the crystal red. So I painted them.

Default White lettering on calipers

Where did you get the white paint to put on the corvette letters? Is it heat resistant also? Did you take the entire caliper off the car, and bleed your brakes? Looks great!

This is what I posted above in this thread about the white letters. No need to remove the calipers, onlyl the wheels.:

I know it’s an old thread but is that a color match from G2 or the red from g2? Thanks
