Default Purchased "Garage Queen" with 12 year old tires-advice

Hi All

So I've had my C5 about a month now and having a lot of fun as the weather is cooperating here in Colorado. Checked my tires today and here is what I got currently;

Khumo's
275 40 17 Front
295 35 18 Rear
MFG Date - 2004!
4/32 rear, 5/32 Front
They look fine- no cracks etc.

Thinking of going back to stock sizes with Michelin A/S 3's. The car won't see snow (unless I'm totally surprised but I am in Colorado), I have another DD so this is a weekend car and no track.

Per experience should I run change them asap as my tire guy tells me I'm unsafe. (of course right). Any thoughts are most appreciated.

If you're not going above 30 mph, they are ok. But I would change them pretty soon.

Replace the tires, they are unsafe being 9 years old regardless of the tread depth.

Thanks... I did break 30mph today (by a long shot) lol. Actually first car I've had where just finding tires is a small challenge. Pilots, RE760's etc... Discount Tire has a good rep here in Colorado. I'll get something on her asap. Probably stock size but I don't need a 295 35 for my purposes anyway...

If it were my car, I'd be replacing the tires ASAP.

Well Apparently Michelin's is mid March if I'm lucky. Found Conti's and a RE760 which most say are not near the Pilot Sport A/S. I hear production has been stopped on that tire and they will release a PS A/S "+" or something with different tread compound I believe...So I got two choices:
1. Run on what I got till at least mid March and hope to get the A/S 3's
2. Put the Conti DSW's on..
