Default Help with new tire choice?

,00 qurg Hello all.
I've recently purchased a stock C-6 with Z-51 package with 9,000 mile on it . One of the first things I would like to do is get rid of the stock GY rubber. It has 19s in back and 18s up front.

My wife who would like the smoothest quietest riding tire and I'm concerned with dry traction for spirited driving, improved quietness, smoother ride, and not being freaked out about running into our surprise downpours here in CO. Mostly dry road driving. Not fully decided on run flats.

All options and opinions are welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Bill

Your going to get a lot of different suggestions, But I just went through this when I changed wheels/ tires on my GS. I assume you want to get away from run flats? I know I did. Most will tell you to go with the Michelin Pilot Sport. But they are one of the higher priced tires. I priced several different brands. and ended up going with the Continental Extreme Contacts. Very happy with my decision thus far. Much more quiet, handles much better, Car does not follow ruts in the road as it used to. Price was great in comparison. to Nitto, Michelin. Pirelli. etc. But like I said you are going to get several different opinions on this and mine just happen to be the first of many!

I went for Continental Extreme Contacts (non-run flats) on C7 Z51 for street. No complaints at all in 10,000 miles. When I did a search for street tires about a year ago, these tires were strongly recommended; if I remember correctly, one person had 55,000 miles on his set and still had wear left in them.

Bridgestone RE11 is a good option for a non RF with excellent dry and wet traction.

I've had BS RE-11 & S04 Pilot, and now have Cont Extreme DW. All non-run flats..I'd never buy run flats for the Vette again.

The Continentals are the softest ride of the 3, good grip (I road race with them), and weigh less than the Bridgestones (less rotating wheel weight is good)

Michelin Super Sports are about the same weight as DW, but several hundred more for the set.

Tire rack recently had a good special on Extreme DWs...not sure if still going on.

I bought Hankooks for my C5. Much quieter and smoother than the run-flats. I've got 30,000 miles on them so far and they still have plenty of tread. From what I've read, the Michelins are made with softer rubber that will provide more grip at the expense of a shorter life. I'm not an aggressive driver and my tires have never lost their grip. In general, everyone who gets away from the factory runflats is happy with his or her choice. All available non runflats seem to make people happy.

What kind of tire life are you seeing from these tires?

Well I put the new BFG comps on my 05 and was happy with the ride, traction and noise. The 06 I just bought had new Goodyear runflats just put on. The BFG in my opinion are hands down the better tire in all 3 categories. And at half the price I will use them again when these wear out. If I get a flat I'll just pull over and fix it. Does any one else agree with this ??

RE11s are great but again you are going to sacrifice duration for traction. Seems like they are decent price. The Continentals are also a decent tire but seem to last a bit longer.
