Cost to Paint Wheels
Folks, I am interested in having my wheels painted a Textured or Matte black. I have a request out to a local shop, but just wanted to run it past anyone who's done it. What does it typically cost to paint all four wheels? Thanks.

I got some wheels painted metallic black awhile ago for about $400 without prep work. If the tires need to be removed and the wheels rebalanced add another $100-$150.
I would suggest you get them powder coated. Way more durable than regular paint.

Thanks for the inputs. I was quoted $150 a wheel to strip and paint, that's if I just brought the wheels in. Another $25 if they have to take them off the car. Gonna pass for now.....

there is no easy way of getting the clear coat off, this usually carries a extra cost to the painter because the wheels are either sent to a facility that sand blast or is sent to a facility for liquid stripping, either way you go the wheels then need to be prepped and by this I mean re polished to a smoother grit, Ones thats done the cleaning prep is done and then on to the paint or powder coat.
Ive see some places charge 50.00 a wheel for a simple matte black but trust me on this they dont strip the wheels to bare aluminum and although you may get a clean looking wheel you will see a effect in just a few months, if your going to go with a cheap route just try some Do it your self plastidip have fun with it and if its time for it to come off you still have your original coat underneath

Which wheels do you have? I checked into having a set of wheels painted locally and found that it was almost as expensive as buying a new set of wheels from Florida Speed Shop. I would consider buying a new set of wheels and selling the other ones.

If you want matte, go grab 2-3 cans of plastidip spray and put 2-3 coats on. Don't have to worry about taping anything or overspray because you can just peel it off of any paint or even the tires. I sprayed my wife's cars wheels 2 years ago and it's still holding just fine, even with pressure washing and/or scrubbing to get brake dust off.
Added bonus of, if you ever want to change it up, it takes very little time to peel it back off to return stock.
