Default Looking for quiet tires!

I currently have Cooper Zeon RS3-S on my C5 and am looking for something with less road noise. Anybody have/had any tire that was decently quiet on the road?

Dixie,

Can't speak to other brands, but I have Continental Contact Extreme DWS on the car and have no tread hum. Because of the low profile expansion joints and railroad crossings are a bit thumpy. I find them very acceptable.

Best - Tom

Not sure about sizes, base or Z06 or if you are running aftermarket rims and/or different sizes or if you want run flats or not.

Best bet is to go to TireRack.com and enter the sizes you are looking for and then do some research in the test results. One of the things they note is how quite the tires are while driving on the street. Here is just an example;

A couple other thoughts, since your in FLA with a convertible, you may not really need all season tires which can be nosier on some pavement types than summer only tires.

Are the current tires too noisy with the top up, down or both? The C5 is truly lacking in proper cabin insulation, both heat and noise - even after the '01 mid cycle updates/improvements which included better cabin insulation expect for the Z06. Maybe what you should also look into is an aftermarket cabin insulation kit, something like this;

Continental is probably your best bet, they make a quiet tire.

I have some Falken's on my 97 that I got on Tire Rack, very affordable and very quiet. Super happy with them.

I thought my Nitto Invos were pretty quiet and good ride quality.
