Default Damage to right front fender

As seen in the pictures, the front fender sustained damage and I did not know if there was something I can or should do to contain the damage while I figure out what I want to do to fix it, or if there is any chance that the damage will grow due to driving it. I don't drive it that much but it looks like it has changed since the damage occurred. The depth is about 25 thousandths. I have had the car 25 yrs and it was repainted by the previous owner. thanks

Anything you put on there will need to be ground out by the repairer down the road.
I think you should file a claim on your insurance and get it in as soon as possible.
You could put some think clear tape over it to keep the elements out a bit I would think.
But personally I believe that's why we pay for insurance.

I'd grab some touch up paint that matches somewhat close, and layer it in thick over multiple coats. It'll look much better, and help hold the remaining paint together while you figure out the next step.

If you find a touch up that's a near match, you can layer the paint on thick, when dry knock it down with some 1000grit, working up to 2000-3000 in stages, and buff it out.

I would not worry about driving it as is for a while. Do you know if the car was repainted in lacquer or enamel or epoxy?

Good, practical sol'n !

If permanent repair is near-term; go ahead and seal it as above. But no need for you to knock it down. Let paint shop do that.

You aren't going to do any further damage by driving it. I don't think I would do a temporary repair as it will need to be undone when it is repaired properly. The entire fender (and possibly more) will need to be repainted. Hopefully they can achieve an adequate colour match.
