Default What is this Part on 1966 Corvette

I am going through the suspension and steering on my 1966 Coup. I am replacing parts to original OEM, Can anyone tell me what the part is / part number for the strut just in front of the oil pan?

Tex
"Shock Absorber Asm" p/n 3178100, as shown in your AIM at UPC-9, Sheet A3. Service operations are covered in ST72 Chassis Service Manual, Steering Linkage section, pgs 9-31, 9-33. Originals are Delco/Pliacell products with date code & p/n stampings on the tube near the bracket end. GM P&A catalogs call it a "... strg. shock ...". Aftermarket (repro) are pricey & normally referred to as a 'steering damper shock'.

It is not required for driving your car. But you can probably find a new service replacement if you search around . Original can also be rebuilt for $$$$......one or two folks do this work.
