One thing I haven't seen mentioned is seeing all cars ahead braking. I'm talking quarter mile or more ahead. Use caution cause it's either a cop, accident, or a drunk.
I have Uniden R3 and 4 and older passport 8500 and 9500xi, all excellent with audible warnings (the important part), but I do not like the newer OLED displays, impossible to read in daylight whereas the older passport regular LEDs you can easily see.
I also run an R7. It has great range and I appreciate the ability to tune it to the frequencies used by LE where I live or happen to be traveling. It has more than paid for itself.
I have a Uniden R8 and a Redline 360. They are both great detectors. I've had poor display life on my Redline so I prefer the Uniden R8.
I have thr 360C and with the top down, which it always is, I cannot see the display. I have to go by the arrows, very, very, annoying!
Also, if you feel you should slow down, for a possible official reason, you are on cruise control, hit the cancel button, not the brakes. No need to advertise you knew you were speeding.
If one wants to go cheap the Uniden R3 and R4 are tough to beat in the price range. Much fewer false alerts and more range than one needs most of the time.
I've had a Uniden R3 in my 2017 Z07 since I purchased it (new).
It still works great, and is probably less expensive now than when I bought it years ago!
