Default Another Surprise...possibility that you can't have Z52 Sport + 3-Stanchion High Wing

Been working on getting my order in place in case of Admiral Blue GS Allocations this week and have run into another apparent hiccup. After all of my consternation over GM deciding to require CCBs if you wanted Z52 Sport + CF Aero, I finally settled on the Three Stanchion Wing + Extended Splitter in place of CF Aero. At least no constraint concerns, right? Well, now when they enter all my options into GM Workbench, apparently its not allowing them to enter both Three-Stanchion Wing & Z52 Sport w/o kicking one or the other out.

He is thinking this is a "bug" in the Workbench and trying to get answers from his GM reps, but if this goes like every other GS option requirement I was hoping was a "bug", it will probably turn out to be yet another ridiculous option reality involving High Wings.

Either way...just a heads up for anyone else who might be trying to get an early order in that was considering Z52 Sport + High Wing.

GM is so stupid. Losing so many orders or leaving money on the table over constraints and requirements. Almost laughable.

That was actually my back up plan as well. I hate the stock spoiler. I can live without the Aero, but not a wing.

I wouldn't say I hate the stock spoiler, but I definitely find it underwhelming, even with the larger wickers installed...and it will be disappointing if I have to settle for that. The whole situation around aero and wings and all of the hoops to jump through to get any of it is baffling to me.

Every time one of these constraints or GS-only requirements kicks me in the groin again, I wonder if I'm ready to throw the towel in yet. Feels like I'm getting close if this one goes south, too.

I've never had any experience ordering a new Corvette, or any vehicle for that matter. What are the chances that if they get enough complaints they might loosen up next year and allow some of the combo of options we're hoping for? Or do they always keep it exactly the same for the length of a generation?

Can you change out the stock spoiler for a wing after receiving your car? I’ve been told that you can’t, but I see all these “YouTubers” talking about their aftermarket wings.

Yep, someone in the background has keyed in the wrong edit. I knew calling two different suspensions "Z52" was going to cause issues, now and down the road. Your dealership needs to call the Dealer Business Center (not the sales rep, they don't know sh*t) and bring it to their attention and hopefully it gets fixed before your allocation gets placed.

Good point, and hopefully that is all it is. Using "Z52" for both was yet another baffling choice in all of this. Hopefully MacMulkin knows the right contact people at the Business Center.

You can, but there are a lot of challenges to do so...way more work than I have any interested in doing or having to deal with a body shop to do so. For one, the rear bumper has to come all the way off for pretty much any spoiler/wing changes on the C8. Most of the high wings require additional bracing underneath the bumper that has to be installed. Then there are so many holes pre-drilled in the top of the bumper for the stock spoilers that you have to deal with either body filler and re-painting the bumper or going with some sort of plugs or covers for the extra leftover holes.

If you're curious, this Conti video on the three-stanchion wing has some discussion on what C8 wing installs require:

I was under the impression the three stanchion wing is dealer installed regardless of you ordering at the point of purchase of the car or after. Might want to confirm with the dealer.

Yes, it is dealer-installed (or in my potential case, Museum-installed). I was more referring to having to deal with all of the effort to go aftermarket after taking delivery.

Understood!
If I was in this situation I would just have the dealer place the allocation which ever way it gets done and order the wing with them on the spot. It would probably arrive before the car and can still be installed during PDI.

Dealer installed items cannot be ordered with museum delivery is what I understand from pervious discussions.

The two stanchion wing car does not have the low spoiler that comes on the car without a wing. When the 3 Stanchion wing is being installed on your car is the low spoiler removed? Or does the car just not come with it?

My understanding is they install this at the dealership. This will be the first car they have ordered with it. They believe they will have the to remove the one from the factory and install this. Can’t seem to get a straight answer

One would hope since it is on the initial order that BG would not install the regular spoiler so you do not have holes to deal with on a brand new car. To me that would make sense.

If you all want to check out that Conti YT video I linked earlier in the thread, it shows how the car arrives to the dealer when the 3-stanchion is ordered. The car ships without any spoiler and only a couple of the necessary holes pre-drilled.

Watched the video. Answers my questions. Still have some drilling to do. Have to remove ear facia or bumper. There is a good comparison of the 2 and 3 stantion wings.
