As far as I know, there is no evap temp sensor in a '93. I also don't see a code 71 in the service manual.

however if i look at the evap box, it has the blower ballast resistor , and what about this other item (with the 1 red wire ) coming off of it

You are correct. In fact, I know do not know of ANY year that has a temp sensor. In refrigeration, pressures dictate what the saturation temperature is inside the evaporator coil. Pressures are "converted" to temperatures. If one looks at the dial of a manifold set, for any given pressure there is a corresponding temperature. In the case of R134A, a low side pressure reading of 35 PSI equates to a temperature of 40°. 40 PSI = 45° and so on. A "low temp" indication actually means that the pressure of the evap coil is too low and it will freeze. 27.8 PSI is the "cutline". At this or any lower pressure, the temperature is below 32°. If Diz had his AC charged and does not work, I would venture a guess that whoever charged it didn't check for leaks and he has no gas left in the system.

ok, that likely explains the terminology
the clutch doesnt even kick on, ill have to talk to the shop to see how they got it to work in a bypass mode. They claimed they bypasses (some
sensors) and it ran and blew cold air. They claimed no big leaks during the fill yesterday (they also added a UV dye to help pinpoint any small leaks if there are any).
I did see a code 09 - low freon on the a/c programmer display (when entering diag mod by pushing the up and down arrow at the same time), but i disconnected the battery and it went away.
If i jumper this harness plug, the compressor still doesnt kick on.
so i may need to turn it on at the relay just to verify it indeed works
