Default C8 ZO6 Front pads / Rotor Rust Issue

I have a 2024 Z06 with 2,400 miles on it.
The pads rusted and stuck to the rotors (they are not Ceramic)
The car has not been tracked / normal use and is stored in a dry garage
I brought the car to Woodbury Chevrolet in CT and they said i needed new rotors and pads and showed me the damage on the rotors/pads
They said it was normal wear/tear and NOT a warrantee item.
I refuse to believe this is not a defective part(s) that should be covered on a newer car with this mileage
Does anyone have advice as to if/how i can get this covered and have others experienced this?

Picture of the rusted rotors would help. Are you brakes pulsing when you step on them . Go out on a back road and get it up to 60 and stomp on the brakes a few time to clean the rotors and pads off and see how they are. What you described is normal for Metallic pads . If you put the car away wet this is possible. I have the Z51 package and this happens with those brakes too. Hasn't done any damage to the rotors.

Yup, metallic pads have sintered iron in them, and iron rotors, they rust just from moisture in the air, kept inside or outside if it sits long enough.
The more often you drive it, the less it will happen.
You can swap to ceramic pads and coated rotors, or drive it a lot more.

Normal. But since your driving isn't normal it will do this. Drive the dang thing.

Try putting some more miles on the car - the rust should go away.

I have not heard of this issue before. With many C8s not being daily driver cars, I would think this would happen frequently. If getting a GS with Z52 Sport brakes (J56), sounds like same thing would happen. I guess driving the car more is the answer, especially after washing it. So the base GS with coated rotors makes this less likely. Seems like it might also happen on the Z51 brakes? But not heard of that much either?

It's quite common for years and all cars, happened to me on my 2017 Z06, car was stuck, couldn't move it. As others have mentioned, just really need to dry the rotors / pads very well before parking.

Drive the car around the block after washing and use the brakes - easy fix. Worse thing to do is wash it and park it.

LGJ fill out your public profile so we know what state you live in.

Are you in the south with high humidity. That may explain some of the issues.
OR did you wash the car then park it inside

When I wash my car, I go for a brief drive on the highway to dry off the wheels and the brake rotors. That eliminates rotor rust.

One of the reasons I changed out the rotors and pads with the Powerstop kit. The Powerstop rotors are always shiny, and no dust.

Never park your car overnight with wet rotors after washing the car. Driving in the rain is not an issue as the brakes are being used and putting heat into the rotors to keep them dry.
