Default C7 Screens Stay On After Shutting Down and Locking Car

Hey guys,

I’m facing a weird issue with my C7 Corvette. When I shut down the engine, get out, and lock the vehicle, the infotainment screen and instrument cluster refuse to turn off.

As you can see in the attached video, the screens just stay fully live. I haven't tried any troubleshooting or disconnected the battery yet, as I wanted to get your expert advice first.

Is this a known issue? What is the best way to start diagnosing this?

Thanks for any help!

How old is your battery? These cars get electrical issues when the battery is not top shape.

I'm not entirely sure of the exact install date, but I can say it's more than a year and less than two years old

May still want to get the battery tested at a local auto parts store. Other than that, may have to make an appointment with a good repair shop and see what is going on.

It is the door latch assembly. Your window isn't indexing correctly either. I troubleshot the issue for a while before figuring mine out. It's not too hard to replace on a coupe, but it is a little more involved for a convertible.

Battery is size Group 48 US / H6 DIN. The OEM battery is only 660 CCA - but you can easily buy this battery size with at least 750 CCA. An AGM battery may last longer in a hot climate. I installed a Duracell Group 48 AGM w/ 760 CCA 3 years ago and have had zero issues.

I would agree it is the door latch assembly. Had the same exact problem.

Thank you for confirming. I checked with my local dealer regarding the latch assembly, but unfortunately, it is not available at the moment. I will have to order it from the US, which may take some time.

I really appreciate your help and will keep you updated once I have any progress.

This is normal. The radio/screen will stay on for a certain period as long as you remain inside the vehicle, even if the engine is off.

However, it should turn off immediately once you open one of the doors and lock the vehicle.

Look in the Owner's manual for Retained Accessory Power (RAP). This will explain what features stay on after the car is shut off and for how long.

I think the OP's situation is not really about RAP- he still has everything working after shutting down, exiting the vehicle, and locking it.
RAP shuts down as soon as you open a door. So his electronics are not "noticing" that the door has been opened.

I just bought my 2019 Grand Sport in February and the guy I bought it from couldn't tell me how old that battery was, so I bought a new one.

Agreed the OP is not having a RAP issue. The RAP info was offered as education since there appears to be some confusion.
