Can anyone recommend an aftermarket/custom seat option for C1 (1960) that sits a couple of inches lower and also a little further back to provide additional leg room and better headroom. I'm sure this has been discussed in the past but I can't find anything here. Car is a mild restomod build and trying to find something with a relatively stock appearance that won't break the piggybank. Thanks for any suggestions!
This is what I did with the seat back (reply #9). Cheap, easy and effective. Also when I checked the spring pack in the bottom portion of the seat I had found that "Bubba" had installed them backwards so double check yours.

I put Al Knoch AOK seats in mine. Low profile seat rails get them down lower. Seat still looks stock.
Great idea Jim! I missed your posted 6 years ago. I bought some AK seats about 4-5 years ago and the amount of extra room they gave me was miniscule (lots of measurements and photos), so I put the stock seats back in and sold the AK's. I may try your idea Jim. You say it doesn't compromise the ride comfort with the springs being compressed?

It, in fact, is even more comfortable than stock because it is not as "flat" as stock and conforms to my back better. Gives about 2 more inches clearance to the wheel. One of the other things I did for a bit more comfort was remove the wires in the lower seat upholstery, that form the pleats, because on a long trip they were digging into my boney ****.
Probably not what you re looking for, but I modified a set of C4 seats for my wife's '62. They are slightly lower and the seat backs fold forward and they offer much better lateral support.
That is pretty cool - not sure if I like the smooth look though.
I doubt there are any to match the C1 red interior ?
If you are referring to my seats, the side bolsters will prevent sliding around on the "smooth" seats.
I covered the seats with brown vinyl and suede inserts, so you should be able to find something to match a red interior.
I was just referring to the look - they look to modern for me LOL.
No I ain't doing anything with mine - I just had them redone a couple of years ago - with maybe 1961 lengthwise ribbing seat covers
Cost me more to redo the seats then what I paid for the car when it had been completely redone 50 odd years ago LMAO
