Default Cost for Transmission Tune?

Hello! I've recently upgraded my 2.73 gears in my A4 c5 corvette to 3.42 gears and am under the impression that I need a trans tune. The car drives fine as is right now and definitely better than with my old gears but I presume I will receive an even bigger difference with the tune. I am located in Socal and called a shop for a tune, they quoted me at around 600$ Does that sound about right? they said no dyno is needed and therefore would be cheaper than an engine tune. Thank you everyone!

You'd be better off getting a complete engine AND trans tune. Not knowing California emissions laws, you may be better off with just the trans tune.
WARNING!!! Do NOT let the tuner remove torque management. Change values, yes. IIRC, my tuner raised the TM spec from 450lb/ft to 1,000. Whatever he did, it worked, as I have a totally original, stock 4L60E in my 2000 C5. Only thing not stock is the 3,200 stall Yank converter, which is probably harder on the trans than the stock one. My trans is 26 years old, with around 150,000 miles on it. It has outlasted 1 427 Darton engine, and has had a built LS7 427 wailing on it for 11 years and almost 60,000 miles......

If they have done C5’s previously with the same gear swap from 2.73 to 3.42 it wouldn’t take them even an hour. So I’d say $600 is very steep.

Part throttle shifts by TPS and MPH. So your rpm at each gear change will be higher than it was. As you get closer to redline it will be an issue.

At full throttle it shifts by MPH and RPM and will likely just hit the rev limiter on the 2-3 shift.

Have you tried that?

Agreed. I believe he could also be damaging the trans by not getting a tune....

thank you for the input guys. I did get a transmission tune on my car. And you two are right, pre tune I would hit the rev limiter if I gave it a good amount of gas. Only did that once and luckily from what I can tell there wasn’t any major damage. First time I ever hit the rev limiter like that. After some more help from forum members. I’m very sure that my issue is my TCC. Either the solenoid, 1-2 actuator, or the most common issue the TCC regulator valve. Gonna take it in to the shop for an inspection and than move from there.

Default Cost of trans tune? Free!!

Get yourselves a obdx pro gt cable and tuner pro. I could help,,at work ,.but start there. Its amazing the things you can do for free , and also download pcm hammer ,universal patcher and you can do your own and trust me is great!! So far on my automatic 2002 c5 i fixed my fans so the car only runs at 196 to 220 instead of the 234 it did stock, changed my fans turn on and of mph too. (Never knew that was a thing) and in a week or 2 im installing my 3.15 rear i have and will have to adjust my tables some. It was a pain to learn but once you have it its great. Just make darn sure you use the correct checksum file for your bin so you have the tables in the correct order , its easy because of all the help and all the people who made it better and better. You cannot data log tho, but the cable comes with software that does the histagram of the ve table so you would have to do it the long way,,,or ask chatgbt. Lol
Me ve table with a few revs in park with the obdx pro software
