There should be an RCA connection on the rear of the radio, check the installation manual if it isn't obviously labeled. You'll also need to connect the long radio purple wire to the reverse lights.

Default Help

I did just as you did. and the wires are clamped good. But I have no back up camera. I read a thread somewhere that said the red wire behind the head unit should have been clamped into the purple and white wire (Sony). I called crutch field and she told me I had to run that black wire back to the vehicle and to the frame of the car (electrical engineer told me I was fine doing it the way you did). But I get a message that says no Video Signal not detected. Any thoughts?

Well this is an 11 year old thread, but I might be able to help. First of all look at the settings on the head unit you have, (see your owners manual) often times you have to select that you have a backup camera. What interface are you using? On most of them there's a backup trigger wire that needs to be connected to your head unit that tells your head unit to switch to the camera then the cars put in reverse, Which Sony head unit are you running

I am connecting it to the Sony 4000 AV. When you say back up trigger wire, what is that referring to? The red wire behind the head unit with the yellow connector?

Here is my thought. I think the red wire behind the head unit that I was told to cap off by crutch field needs to be tied into the purple and white wire that is the back up camera. That is what I keep seeing. Did you have to do that?

And I did connect the purple/white wire to the capped off red wire behind the head unit and it still does not work. UGH I need some help.
