Default Lift?

I don't have a lift option on my C7 and have not had any clearance problems. Is the C8 GS any lower, or is there any other reason I should add the lift option to my C8 order?

I don’t own a c8 yet. My sense is it’s more of a nice to have rather than a must have. I ordered it because I’d rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it But from a resale perspective it’s a high demand feature.

I was originally not going to get the lift. Heard of people having problems and figured it was one less issue to have. As I researched the system more, I realized it’s a pretty simple system to work on and diagnose. None of the issues will cause the car to become un-drivable, and as said above it adds to resale value. Again as said, it’s something that’s better to have in case you need, and the best part is it only adds like 15 lbs to the cars weight.

After going over all of those points I decided to add the lift to my order. Also it’s just plain nice to have for those one or two driveways that are steep; now I don’t have to worry as much. I also have the Z52 with the larger front splitter so that made it even more of a reason to get it on my car.

I also had very few clearance problems with my C7 GS. Prior to getting my 2026 Eray, I did some research and apparently the approach angle & front end of the C8's make for better clearance than the the previous C7's. So far with the Eray, I have been damn glad I did not order the front lift. So far, I've had absolutely no issues with clearance and no scrapes whatsoever. Further, I've been quite surprised how much better the C8 is compared to the C7 - I don't have to be nearly as vigilant nor cautious in the Eray with regards to parking blocks, curbs, inclines, dips, speed bumps, etc. Hope this helps!

There is more clearance on the C8 than the C7.

Wish I would have passed on front lift. Used it once by mistake when I missed the select button and hit the camera instead.

Personally, I've enjoyed having lift on mine and find myself wishing my C7 had it. Maybe it is just placebo, but its nice coming up to something, my driveway entrance included, where I'd be creeping into/over in my C7, and not having to sweat the C8 with the front lifted. Especially since the damn HOA finally pushed through adding speed humps throughout the main roads in my neighborhood.

I’ve had more than one person tell me I needed it for resale value. As this is my first corvette I can’t speak to that personally, but unfortunately I know I’ll need to it get into the parking lot at my office. So it was a must have for me.

On my first C8 I didn't have it and I never needed it.

On my first C8 I had it and used it every time I drove the car.

It all comes down to what ones local roads and driveways are like.

Mines a must need. Use it everyday, multiple times. Nice having the GPS to auto raise it.

Question on the GPS activation. There is one parking lot where I know my wife will need it to auto-lift. Let's say I was driving past the driveway does it still activate every time you go by even if you don't turn in?

Must have option for me, ordered the front lift on my GS. Also wouldn’t consider a used C8 without it either.

Has anyone with the lift also lowered their car? Sounds counterintuitive, but there are times when the stock ride height seems too high.

it depends how fast you are going. There was a place I drove by frequently, and only occasionally pulled into. Driving past normally was not an issue. However, there was also a stoplight there. So if I had to stop for the stoplight, the lift engaged. Ultimately, I wound up deleting that location and for that one I just hit hit the button if I needed to.

I’ve seen several YouTube videos where owners do this. Apparently it’s pretty easy. Look up horsepower obsessed on YouTube.

Was on the fence about the lift but the car (Eray) I wanted had the lift so I got it and I’m VERY glad I have it. Even with the lift I have to be careful in some places. I consider it to be a must have option.

It's actually not counterintuitive at all—in fact, it's quite the opposite. If you're planning to lower the vehicle, including a front lift is absolutely essential to ensures proper clearance.

Scraped my C6 Z51 Air Dam often. No big deal, it's designed to bend. My C7 Z51 did not have a center air dam but I added an aftermarket Splitter. Scraped the bottom several times. For my 2017 Grand Sport had the optional Stage 2 Aero Splitter. Thankfully added and expensive, Scrape Armor Protector ($500) as coming out a steep driveway in town scraped several weeks after adding. Thankfully saved my ~$2000 Carbon Fiber splitter.

For my 2020 C8 Z51 got aftermarket 5VM option mainly for the full length side skirts to stop rocks digging the rocker panels but also had the splitter. In that case fiberglass painted Carbon Flash. Ordered the lift an was a great help. Only issue is cost. Paid ~$1500 for my 2020 C8 Lift. When I bought my E-Ray ordered the Lift as thought I would add splitter. It cost $2500. BTW didn't order the splitter BUT in one exist from a driveway in town had a minor scrape under the Stannard mini splitter with lift activated.

I'll get the lift with my planned 2027 GSX. But now it's $3000! Depends on your area. Lots of rain ditches in town. When exiting restaurant, mall etc driveways some can cause a scrape. Have about 15 places set in memory. Very useful.
