The current dealership (let's call this #1) that I'm working with called and said that they had an allocation number for me but the cost was $3500. I said NO dice. Either MSRP or I walk. Then I found another local dealer (let's call this one #2) and they had an allocation number for me. I started working with #2 dealer. Had an appointment on a Saturday at 9am to drive the 30 miles to location #2. Heard back from dealer #1 saying that the dealership would absorb the $3500 fee, they'd take my car in trade in and let's order. Dealer #1 sounded great because I believed that I'd have a Vette to drive until my 2027 GS would arrive. Well, that ALL fell apart. I placed the order with #1 dealer, gave them the $5K and in the same breath was informed that Dealer #1 would NOT take my car as trade-in. I don't swear but I have some really BAD thoughts what just happened. I was taken advantage. I'm still fuming.
Hopefully, you can get your $5k back and walk. If they are screwing you on this, I would see it as a beginning of a "how much can we screw this person for" kind of relationship. I am sure I will have to wait a while for a GSX, but I am not budging over MSRP to be number one on anyone's list.

I visited two more Chevy dealerships today. Stevens Creek is standing by the MSRP price, but didn't want to take an order until the configurator is updated. Boardwalk wants a $5000 ADM and wouldn't agree to place an order because the Grand Sport "is a limited-edition model." The salesman supposedly has 15 years of Corvette sales experience, but seemed to be uneducated about some things. There was a 2025 Z06 for $10,000 off MSRP.

I learned the hard way years ago that if it’s not in writing the dealer is not going to do it. Get every promise in writing before you sign/pay for anything.

How very nice of them to "absorb" the fee they made up on their own to start with.
Unfortunately the days of ADM are not over, they may be fewer but as long as there are people willing to pay there will be dealers who will ask for it. I am not an ADM paying kind of guy but I can easily seeing people paying the $3500 ADM for a allocation that is readily available vs waiting on a list for months hoping to get one…. Wait for the C9 to launch, I bet the number of dealers who will ask for ADM will skyrocket….
I don't want to "jump ship" yet. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Will be contacting them this week or early next week especially since my $5K check has been cashed.
We (Abel Chevrolet in Rio Vista, CA ) plan to sell GS and GSX at or below MSRP. We do have a list going for the GS, but I only have 1 local customer on my list for a GSX. We don't know how many we'll get, but hoping for a couple per year or more.
Thanks Rich! You know I'll be coming your way. New GSX or used E-Ray.....and not that yellow one
I'm late to the party but went to my dealership in Memphis TN (chuck hutton) where I ordered my 2020 Stingray. No Markup. Now I tried to order the new Grand Sport from them. 1 allocation. One guy said $15,000 mark up. Then another guy who got on the phone and said it was $30,000 mark up but since the $15k was said first he agreed to keep it at $15k. Told me it was so high demand. Worst part was they already ordered the car. I don't even get to pick what I want. Screw that and the mark up.
what moron would pay a $30k markup on a GS when you can get a z06/e-ray with a $15k discount. I can kind of see on a zr1/zr1x but markups on GSs when they discount stingrays, e-rays and z06s makes less than zero sense and you will lose your *** on deprecation for an inferior car. Guess you really gotta love those stripes.
hell i dont even see the point of paying MSRP when you can get such large discounts on the other models.

Yeah, I gotta think a far better deal will be made on the 2028 Grand Sports if one can just wait.
There's always a color for everyone. I've had Vettes 2001, 2006, 2011, 2017, 2023 and ordering a GS all in YELLOW. Yellow is a color that STANDS OUT. It catches peoples' eyes. My previous Vettes 1973 were grey, 1984 black, 1991 Quasar blue, 1995 blue. The 2027 GS will be my 10th BRAND NEW Vette

Probably related to the same person who paid 80k markup for a zr1 at my local dealer. most people won't travel to a far away dealer or trust working with a dealer + shipping. So they either pay the price or they don't get one. That's why ADMs are still prevalent.

yes but someone who can just blow $30k on literally nothing isnt going to buy the 2nd slowest model.

You mistake your own preferences as universal truth. I wouldn't buy the z06 if it cost less than the grand sport. If I wanted more performance I'd get a GSX, not a z06. I don't fully understand why anyone accepts paying ADM, but they do.
