Default Wideband or not for NA c5

Going to be getting a dyno tune done pretty soon on my c5. I was curious if I needed to install a wideband sensor and guage before having the tune done. I understand they are nesisary on boosted applications but na stock cam do i need it?

its not much hassle there is already a bung ready to go in the headers I have.

Car and mod info
02 c5 6 speed
stock cam
Long tubes - Cerakoted
x pipe
Corsa xtreme
z06 wide mouth intake
smoth intake coupler
AFE magnum dry flow filter

Chances are good your tuner will have one they can install in the tailpipe.

But do it anyway. They are very helpful for troubleshooting. Any time the car starts acting strange, just knowing whether it's rich or lean or normal can often be very helpful with tracking down the root cause.

My thoughts exactly why not be able to have an eye on what the engine is doing and how its running.

It's never a bad thing to have.

With a MAF on a pretty mild setup like this I would be comfortable tuning it up without a wideband though.

Throw in a cammed setup running speed density or similar, I'd definitely want one.

I have one installed and find it useful. My c5 has a stage 2 cam and has been Dyno tuned. I use the wideband to know when the ECU goes into closed loop mode on cold start (usually takes about 2 minutes). Between the after market clutch and cam, it's just easier to feather the clutch in first gear when in closed loop mode.

I agree with all of the above. I think any tuned car needs a wideband n/a boosted doesnt matter. They are easy to install and worth the piece of mind and why not make it easier for the tuner or give you the ability to tune in the future
