2026 PTM Pro Mode vs 2023-25 - Press and hold TC/ESC OFF
So I saw how new for 2026 the Z06 will offer a "PTM Pro mode" where it turns off all TC and ESC (while leaving ABS on). How exactly does that differ from pressing and holding the TC off button for 5+ seconds, which illuminates the second light, to denote that all systems are off?
It's so F-ing confusing all their dumb different modes, within modes. I wish we just knew which method turns EVERYTHING off. To date, all I do is either put it in Track Mode and press the TC button for a bit to turn off all systems (Except ABS), or use my Z-mode settings (all track except lighter steering) and do the same to turn off all modes.
If that already exists and supposedly turns off TC and ESC, then why does "PTM Pro Mode" now even exist? Annoying.
Without any further details from GM, I believe you are correct that it is a duplicate for our low-tech cars. GM advertises it as an easy way to swtich back and forth. Maybe you want to do your warm up laps with some nannies on, and switch them off after a couple of laps, so it is slightly easier:
"PTM Pro allows advanced drivers to move between PTM-assisted and fully unassisted driving without leaving PTM mode."
However, it appears for the ZR1x, this mode may have some differences. Again, we will need more details from GM, but according to them, in PTM PRo mode on the ZR1x, some track-based front assists stay on (which leads us to believe they are not on, with the TC off button hold).
Still on in PTM Pro on ZR1x:
"Regen Brake Torque Vectoring
Engineered to recover peak energy without sacrificing agility. While trail braking into a racetrack corner with maximum regenerative recovery, the advanced controls bias rear inside brake pressure to maintain optimal chassis balance. Front Axle Pre-Control
Actively manages inside front brake pressure to control on-throttle wheel flares, ensuring consistent grip and composed handling at the limit."
Could GM, just have PTM Pro available on the AWD versions? Sure, but my guess is since they coded it in, figure it is of some benefit for the RWD versions to be able to switch between modes.
Ahh, I guess that makes some sense. Not exactly easy to press and hold the TC button for 5 seconds while driving, and not even sure it will even do that while you are moving/driving to be honest.
I'm just never in any PTM mode, as even Race 2 is too intrusive for track driving, for me.

Ive been curious about this also . For those w irregular wheel and tire sizes it would be nice to have everything but abs TRULY off

I think the only real advantage is to move within PTM modes more easily on the fly like go from Pro back to Race 2, etc. if you are feeling too much wheelspin, for example, or go from Race 2 to "Pro" once the tires are in the window. Just examples per my thinking.
