Default The fight against heat

In the seemingly never ending fight against heat I have added some 'air grabbers' in the holes that used to have fog lights.

I am still working out a few bugs including routing oil to the cooler mounted on the drivers side so I don't have any feedback on their effectiveness.

50/50 + Water Wetter

Coolant temps 210 - 220 on a 68 deg day. No AC running.

Oil temps 250 - 255. Same conditions. Oil cooler not connected yet.

Are you running a 160 t-stat? I typically run 1 gallon of super cooler with water wetter and the rest distilled water. 80-90 deg day never gets over 185 NO AC. I run a separate oil cooler and temps are usually 190-210.

I didn't know about supercool.

A 160 deg thermostat will simply begin opening at a lower temp. It will have no effect at 200 degrees and above. It has long been wide open.

Let me get the oil cooler hooked up and see what that does. I am hoping with the air grabber it will help a lot. I'd like to keep the coolant temps to under 220 and oil no more than 230.

To add another oil cooler I would have to relocate the trans cooler to the back. I don't see a place to put it where it would get air.

Katech had one mounted in front of the left rear tire but I have fuel pump stuff there for the Fore system. I think there might be room on the right side.

A 160 t-stat but itself will not. When you add a 160 t-stat you have the tuner turn the fans on earlier to match the 160 t-stat. That will bring your temps down. A stock t-stat opens between 187-195 degrees and the stock fans come on around 205 low speed then 215 medium speed and 235 high speed. Most tuners will turn the fans on at 190 low ,199 med and 205 high. Some do it lower. My fans comes on at 172 and 185.

Make sure your radiator is clear of leaves or plastic bags, as they can get sucked up. Those can get pinned between the radiator and A/C unit, causing reduced air flow over the fins.

@PSSSSSHC6 I will look to see what temps the fans are set for.

@NORTY Thanks. Just had the engine out and had a good look at the radiator and spaces inbetween. There was a 4" high foam pad on the intercooler. That is gone.
