Default Xpel Ceramic Boost and their Detail Spray

Has anyone used Xpel's Ceramic Boost and their Detail Spray? I while ago I purchased some and have used these products a few times over a few months and have some thoughts on their products I can share for those who might be looking for some information on their relatively new products...

First, what I don't like:
From a premium brand like Xpel, you would think that their sprayer would be a good sprayer, like the sprayers from Griot's Garage (awesome sprayers in my opinion). The sprayers I purchased send out an initial fine mist of spray but then spit out 3-5 drops of dribble. Not what you want as these drops are heavier and tend to drop onto unintended surfaces creating more work (wiping and buffing the surfaces of the drips). They could certainly have done a better job with their sprayers.

Both bottles' sprayers were the same drippy nozzle/sprayer so I transferred both of them to a separate Griot's Garage bottle and sprayer and had to relable the GG bottles to reflect what is now contained within them. Just shouldn't have to do this. It's not like their products are inexpensive.

Having said that there is plenty to like:
  • easy to use (both products)
  • not so quick to dry that it requires polishing if you don't wipe it off in a few minutes (both products)
  • leaves a very slick and hydrophobic layer (boost)
  • easy to remove (wipe and buff off any residual product) (both products)
  • obviously compatible with Xpel's paint protection film (both products)

I tried taking some photos to show how clean and shiny and slick the surface is but it just looks like clean paint. The last time I put these products on my car was probably a couple of months ago. Yesterday, when I washed my car I couldn't believe the amount of beading. It was really cool. I just finished washing and cleaning all the exterior surfaces of my car. Over the next few days I'll try to take some pictures to illustrate for you (the CF) the results, I just don't know how they'll turn out as the pictures will probably look like nothing more than a clean surface. But I'll try. Stay tuned...

If anyone has any suggestions of what pictures they want to see or have any questions just let me know.

Thanks.

PS: I don't sell their product so I have no financial gain for posting.

I got my new Z06 coated last week. They gave me a bottle of the boost but I haven't used it yet. My installer is a perfectionist like me when it comes to cars so I know this must be a good product.

My car was PPF'd (Xpel) and Ceramic Pro Gold'ed from day one, so it does have some "extra" stuff on top of the paint.

It's worked well for me so far. I used to use Griot's Garage Speed Shine (because it doesn't have any "fillers" nor is it petroleum based (both of which my Xpel installer tells me is bad for my PPF)) but the spray detail is capable of replacing the Speed Shine but because the Xpel sprayers aren't as nice as the GG sprayers I put the Xpel fluids in my old GG bottles because the GG sprayers are much better (in my opinion).

Xpel was $2,000 so I didn’t purchase these products. They can only do so much. They are going on film.I just use different waxes. They work for me.

I presume you are talking about Xpel's paint protection film? Regardless of whose PPF you use, they are all pretty spendy, but compared to the PPF's of yesteryear, you get a lot of tech in today's PPF's i.e. self healing, anti-yellowing (if cared for properly), long warranty, etc. I know it's not inexpensive but like with most anything I'm sure you could find some inexpensive PPF, but then you have to be willing to live with what you pay for, right?

Please be sure to check with Xpel or someone (like a professional installer) to be sure that the waxes (which I was told by my professional installer not to use) you use on your PPF are not incompatible with, or harmful to your PPF.

Here are some pictures I took last night. As I said before I am concerned that the pictures won't look like anything but clean paint. Perhaps the next time I wash the car I can get some beading pictures...

I have used the Xpel Ceramic Boost and the PPF Sealant. I like both. The car shines, water beads and it feels slick like wax. I tried Adams Ceramic Boost and was not happy with the results. The car looked good, but there wasn’t that “slick” feel. I figured Xpel made the PPF so they know what works on it to take care of it. Their products gave me the results I wanted so that’s what I went with.

I have used the Xpel Ceramic Boost and like the product, just wish it was a little less expensive. I will probably buy more when I run out of what I have.

Hope you have fixed the spray bottle issue. Mine may be from 2023 but they still dribble all over.

Never heard of Speed Shine affecting PPF.. has not affected anything I have used it on in many years, maybe because he sells xpel products or something like that?.. just that speed shine a go to product and that PPF damage thing I never heard of or experienced. Truthfully I never heard of Xpel making anything like those products, I'll stick with tried true and tested.

Yes, we did update our spray bottles after getting some feedback. If you're interested, send me an email at mdobbins@XPEL.com with your shipping address and which product it was and I'll send you a new one on the house to check out.
