This is good advice! All too often as we get older (admit it, we're all getting up there except for a few here) we tend to dismiss a new ache or pain as just "getting old" when in truth we have no idea what it is or was. I'm just as bad as the next guy at putting off Dr. visits but, being married to a former E.R. nurse leaves me very little wiggle room for excuses. Over the years it has paid off since I'm still here. As I said earlier I'm not Kyle's biggest fan but a little more involvement with the medical community might just have saved him.

I used to not go unless I was half dead.

My kidney cancer was discovered very early because I went to the doctor to try to find out if there was a reason I was waking up with occasional night sweats. It took two years with monitoring every 6 months before the tumor had grown enough to take it out.

I'm back on the every 6 months CT scan list because I have cyst(s) or tumor(s) again on my left kidney. The right kidney has remained clear for 6 years now after the first surgery. The second surgery was on the left kidney in 24, after watching it when the tumors/cysts were found at the 6 month scan for the right kidney. Those were nonmalignant. The prognosis could have been much worse had I waited, because kidney cancer typically shows no symptoms until it's late stage. It was a very fortunate and important lesson learned for me as someone who has always been healthy and rarely gets sick.

I don't go at all unless somethings really really wrong. The only exception is to an eye doctor/opthamologist every year.

If something takes me out, that's my own fault, and that's fine.

...I was having some BP issues by the time I turned 50.... also higher then they like Cholesterol readings..... we have been blessed with good insurance with Doc's teaching and have used it on their health and wellness checkups every year. I also go in every 6 months to get a blood test ....... ( man, is H1 a hypochondriac)

My friend from across the section called this morning he was half way back from Star City in his 55 when it started missing and banging as he just got it up the off ramp ..... So I hooked up the Black Bullet to the Duramax and headed off to load him up..... his fuel delivery system is not right and he has put on fuel pumps from Speedway and Holley and they all fail....... I think he has other problems...... nobody can have that bad of luck on fuel pumps..... the high dollar billet made in the USA stuff won't fit the Tri Fives because of the front crossbeam runs right under the pump so the better pumps are to big. I have a Carter Engineering pump which is engineered in USA but made in Mexico..... I know the Chinese stuff is junk but I have probably 6,000 miles on the one for the fiddysix........ that was a speedway pump. what we wouldn't do for a genuine AC/Delco OEM replacement pump....... keep the shiny side up Hammers.......

Yay, getting old is not always fun. Was doing pretty good till the late 70's (age) now a little harder to keep up with the Doc's and what they are for!!

Anyway, found this interesting. Bullets for Lib friend's, if you have a favorite...

I ran across this today and read a bit about it. Jimmy Stewart was a true hero. He didn’t just act the part and play a brave patriot like some of his contemporaries. He truly walked the walk. And with great humility, I might add. Yeah, I’m a big fan of his.

I thought most of us "old guys" knew this. Guess I'm wrong. He retired a General and made many Army Air Force (later just U.S. Air Force) promotion films for recruitment use. Yeah, he was a real life war hero!.

Well, Scott, you are not wrong with me. I have been a big Jimmy Stewart fan for a long time. Read a biography about him a long time ago. When I spoke of reading about “it”, I meant reading about the new movie coming out, not about Jimmy Stewart’s military service or life. My bad for not being specific enough. I’m glad you provided a bit of extra insight about him as there may be some who were unaware.

I got the adjustable camber rear control arms on the Charger this morning. It was made a little difficult because I had to use wrenches - I don't have an 18mm socket. I also don't have ratcheting wrenches. It wasn't too bad, just kinda tight quarters in the wheel well. Completed, including a calibrated eyeball check using a 2X4 and a level across the center outside of the tire, in about 2.5 hours. I used the Dodge dealer's "after" alignment results to make an educated guess.

I was a little pissed when I got home after the alignment and found the right rear camber was out enough to wear the inside of the tire. They didn't say a word. I got it aligned when we put new tires on it late last Fall.

The dealership was sold about a year ago, so I don't think I will be going back to them for the things I can't or don't want to do.

Hey Rocket Man, you're never wrong here just not fully informed on certain facts. I mean where else can you find out about squirrels and their concern about nuts, a which-a-ma call- it for a recress and catinpacin and all the other things we seem to have a penchant for bringing up at the strangest time. Not to mention the hot dog ladies, the bar maids and all the other fetching ladies seen on these pages through the years. Enjoy the day.
