EXPECTED REPLY JUST RECEIVED FROM GM....Hello John,

Thank you for reaching out and for your thoughtful feedback regarding your 2026 Corvette.

I certainly understand your interest in having added fuel security, especially for travel, and appreciate you taking the time to share this suggestion.

At this time, GM does not list a locking fuel cap accessory specifically designed for the capless fuel system on the 2026 Corvette. Because the vehicle is engineered with a capless fuel system, traditional locking caps are generally not compatible with its design.

While we’re unable to confirm the development or release of a future accessory, feedback like yours is valuable. I’ve documented your interest in a locking fuel solution so it can be shared internally with the appropriate teams for consideration.

In the meantime, you may also wish to connect with your preferred Chevrolet dealership, as they can:
  • Confirm any currently approved accessories for your vehicle
  • Check for any emerging updates or third-party solutions that meet GM standards
  • Ensure anything installed maintains proper system function
If you’d like, I can assist by providing you the parts website. You can see accessories available specific to your vehicle.

gmpartsdirect.com

Thank you again for your feedback and for being part of the Corvette community.

Kind regards,
Chanel

Sounds like we are probably at the mercy of the aftermarket folks. Surely one of them will pick up on this and come up with something for those who want it.

My 2025 has the locking fuel door. I don't really care if it has it or not. I know in the past guys were having issues with them not unlocking and that would be a real concern.

Default Found a solution

FOUND A SOLUTION
It took two trips to an auto parts store but I found a cap that will fit.

GM PART # 84214460

It is listed as an accessory for GM trucks, but the helpful Auto Zone employee suggested we compare the C8's fuel opening with their new 2026 Colorado parts runner.
I found they were very similar with an recessed ring around the filer tube where the locking latch would fit.
The cap itself is just a cap like you'd find on a spray can, so it is flush fitting. The lock cylinder is to the side.

Mind you, this is what I received a week ago from GM when I asked them the question of what were they going g to do about it...At this time, GM does not list a locking fuel cap accessory specifically designed for the capless fuel system on the 2026 Corvette. Now why did I have to make two trips to an auto part store to try various caps and special order a GM Accessory...which I really felt I'd probably have to return....
GM couldn't have done the same thing?
Give an intern or new rookie engineer a box of GM caps and told to see if one fits.

It’s simple really. The minute they confirm you can use that part, they need to support it. If you take it upon yourself, it’s on you. Nonetheless , glad you found a workaround.

My point was GM should have found the part..either while they were discussing doing away with the lock, or when I asked Customer service about it.

Sounds like GM is back to using paying customers as Beta testers....(reference the long lust of GM engineering fails going back to the Vega, bad deisels, the early cylinder deactivation Cadillacs, etc, etc,.
Either they are a first class automaker or they're not.
There is more to building great cars than coming up with a shiny example that looks goid for the first six months.
Customer support...respect for the customer, is part of that.

Still deters 100% of those who would otherwise tamper with it but decide it's not worth the risk/trouble which tends to be more common. Common thieves are just that (common) and not the rare expert.

I'm not denying that they should have done something.
