2006 Z06 - using the passive lock feature, when leaving the vehicle sometimes it will beep 3 times letting me know that it thinks the fob is still inside the car and the car won't automatically lock. I know the fob is in my pocket and the 2nd fob is in the house, so for some reason it still thinks the fob is still in the car. Doesn't happen all the time, just every so often. Anyone else run into this issue or know what is causing the issue? TIA
I had this issue too, especially if i was standing near the car when it passively locked. I just turned off the triple-honk fob reminder in the settings in the DID. I think the car just can't figure out if the fob is in or out.

Kind of defeats the passive lock feature then. If it doesn't lock, I want to know. Otherwise I might as well not even use the feature.

You can pick the settings so the lights flash but the horn doesn't honk that way you'll at least see the flashes to know it did the passive lock. That's how I have mine setup at least.

The only issue I’ve ever had was mine locked me out with the key in the car at the gas station. I had to get an uber home to get the spare key.
luckily I know the station owner, head to tell him I was leaving my car blocking one of his pumps until I could return.
my wife has a C7 and that car locks itself if you move 3 feet away from it. They have put new antennas in it etc. she has to take her key out of the car every time she parks it.

I want the horn to honk 3 times if it doesn't lock, that isn't the issue. I just want to know why it now thinks the fob is still in the car and if there is anything that can be done about it. Just started happening, hasn't happened for 20 years until now.
Did you recently put on a key fob cover by chance? I bought a couple when I first got my car and cover caused some sort of disturbance to the radio signals, enough to confuse the car and cause this kind of thing plus other weirdness.

No, nothing has changed. But I would think a fob cover that would cause a problem with the radio signal would do just the opposite, that it would prevent the car from thinking the fob was in the car when it really was, instead of generating a phantom signal. Besides, the fob/cover is outside of the car. More than likely I'm not walking away from the car quick enough after I close the door. I might try some experiments and see if I can repeat the problem consistently.
Update - did some experimenting and looks like if I stay too close to the car after closing the door and don't move away right away, it will still think the fob is in the car and not lock. Maybe I'm getting slow in my old age and don't move as fast as I used to.
